Lately I have been reading more and saying less, so this blog will probably be the result of those trends -- almost all books, almost no saying.
We shall see how it goes.
All orderly and fun guests are most definitely welcome!

Modern Cities Disguise II

Modern Cities Disguise

Modern cities disguise
within their gleaming aluminized walls
and silver blinded aqua windows
reflecting back the heat and light of day
with mirrored views of cloudless sky
plains of horizontal tops of desks
with legs beneath torsos above computers on
between the vertical sinews of shafts and cables
and tendons of steel and cubicle walls
connected aloft by aetherized conversation
segments undulating among the antennas
lining the edges of their rooves
rooted below by tubular steel tunnels
absorbing throbbing lifeblood pulsing up
from densely packed transporters
snaking below building to building
showing at street level only in
corpuscular migrations of living atoms
along narrow canyons up and out of burrows
flowing into doored caverns along the way
rising up in towers squishingly compressible
down to densely packed raspberry pancakes
oozing juices freshly prepared and served
burning hot and smoking which we flee
and then turn stand rooted to stare
like so many wives of Lot
shocked in horrored wonder
at the Moloch we have built
knowing already we'll build again
because
all of that is what we do.

    What a great comparison Peder.
Not only the cement and steel as opposed to flesh and blood, but the rest as well.

It is exactly what we do.
We are a stubborn race, aren't we.

    Many thanks Pontalba,
Maybe my engineering helped me with that, but re the last line, we do seem to be to the manner born.
Incidentally, I have just submitted that poem and a few others to an online poetry contest, so we''ll see what happens. My first foray out into the real world. /fingers crossed/
    Sincerely
    Peder
