Planet Janet in Orbit

When I opened this book and read about the author in the front cover I knew I was going to like this book. From the author of “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” comes another book highlighting the lives and loves of teenage girls. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and I would recommend it to all my girlfriends, simply for the fact, it is a reflection of our lives. Whether your mother is a MC (Mad Cow) or not, you will be able to appreciate the story of Janet, with her truthfully honest with “toxic feelings against parents and a lovesick best friend”. This book is extremely funny, but one word of warning – DO NOT read when your eyes are overly tired because the font changes around a lot all over the page, and it does give you a headache if you are tired – but that for me was the only negative. A great girly book to cuddle yourself up on the sofa and read.

Planet Janet in Orbit by Dyan Sheldon

Planet Janet In Orbit is written by the same author as Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (Dyan Sheldon) and is basically about Janet’s trials and tribulations trying to get through her teenage years.

The first thing I noticed about Planet Janet In Orbit (PJIO) was the fact that it’s a lot smaller in height than other books. I guess that it’s because the story is told in diary form, but the different size doesn’t do any favours for it. Admittedly, it’d look good and eye-catching on display but I kept having to change the way I held the book on account of it being smaller.

The other thing that annoyed me was the way the fonts kept changing around. Something like that would really put me off reading a book. When I actually got into PJIO, I found it extremely funny: the assortment of characters was fantastic – what a weird bunch! I also loved the way Janet was so overdramatic, it made me laugh. Although the plot was slightly predictable, it’s still a great book to read if you need cheering up.
