I read a lot for thrills or to be scared sometimes to learn sometimes to make me laugh or make me cry. More than anything else due to the vast amount of great literature around you can go to space, ancient Egypt or many of the wars just by reading, that is what really gets me reading
I read for pleasure. I truly enjoy it and I enjoy a wide range of books. B&R has helped me to widen the scope a bit to more fiction.

I read for the pleasure of it, and learning about people and places I couldn't possibly visit, whether for reasons of safety, or financial reasons.
To see how people live, and have lived over the centuries is truly an amazing experience. Just to see what makes some people tick is certainly a side benefit.

For the most part, I like my books like I like my sitcoms - light and entertaining. I sometimes read to learn, but I'm sort of a lazy reader, so I like to be entertained while I read. I love settling in to be part of someone else's life or travel via the author's words to another place or time. Reading a good book is like settling back with a good friend, it's relaxing and wonderful.
