| we went to see constantine last night. i liked it. it's not trying to be anything more than a keanu reeves action flick. i thought the special effects were good, they didn't try to "wow" you at the end with the big demon scene. it moves along pretty quickly although sometimes it is assumes that you have more information than you really do. there were points where i was going, "wait what was that? did we know that?" i really enjoy keanu, he is not a great actor, but i find him appealling. he is a guilty pleasure, like a grilled cheese sandwich, made with white bread and processed cheese slices. the actor who played lucifer was great and i thought that whole scene with him was well done, it was subtle where it could have been way over the top. the biggest cheese scenes were the brass knuckles with the crosses and flipping lou the bird, but what can you do, everyone wants to be bruce willis. also i do enjoy gavin rossdale.

| I think Keanu flips the bird to someone in every friggin' flick he is in. He will also be strapped to a chair, undergoing some sort of painful ritual in every bloody flick he's in. Other than that, I really liked Constantine, too. Oh, and Mage - LiT is the best film of '04. Period. Cheers |

| just watched john carpenter's dark star last night. it was funny, but one of the last scenes in particular was hilarious. they have to teach this talking bomb phenomenology to try to convince it not to detonate in the bomb bay of their space ship. heh, in a way it reminded me of the conversation I was having with novella. doolittle: hello, bomb? are you with me? bomb #20: of course. doolittle: are you willing to entertain a few concepts? bomb #20: I am always receptive to suggestions. doolittle: fine. think about this then. how do you know you exist? bomb #20: but how do you know you exist? bomb #20: it is intuitively obvious. doolittle: intuition is no proof. what concrete evidence do you have that you exist? bomb #20: hmmmm... well... I think, therefore I am. doolittle: that's good. that's very good. but how do you know that anything else exists? bomb #20: my sensory apparatus reveals it to me. this is fun. doolittle: now, listen. here's the big question. how do you know that the evidence your sensory data reveals to you is correct? what I'm getting at is this. the only experience that is directly available to you is your sensory data. this sensory data is merely a stream of electrical impulses that stimulate your computing center. bomb #20: in other words, all that I really know about the outside world is relayed to me through my electrical connections. doolittle: exactly! bomb #20: why ... that would mean that ... I really don't know what the outside universe is really like at all for certain. doolittle: that's it! that's it! bomb #20 : intriguing. I wish I had more time to discuss this matter. doolittle: why don't you have more time? bomb #20: because I must detonate in 75 seconds. that goes on a for a while, and the bomb eventually decides to think things over. but when they try convincing it to disarm itself, it's so funny, it accuses them of being false data and, therefore, it refuses to perceive them, then gives a little monologue. "in the beginning there was darkness. and the darkness was without form and void. and in addition to the darkness there was also me. and I moved upon the face of the darkness and I saw that I was alone ... let there be light." then it blows up. there's a pretty cool scene after that, too. novella, if you're reading this, rent dark star, you'll laugh your ass off. |

| Saw Laurel Canyon last night, with Frances McDormund. It was really good. Why hadn't I heard of it? Not spectacular, but definitely a nice punchy flick. Better than The Anniversary Party for Hollywood realism, and that got loads of press. Oh, and the other day I caught that great film of interviews with Bruce Lee, in which they show that great scene with bobby's tag line. "Water becomes the teapot, etc." I get such a kick out of that dude. |

| the problem with bruce lee quotes is that many of them are him paraphrasing other people's quotes. |

| Yesterday I saw Der Untergang and Alexander. Der Untergang is a great movie, it's nice to see that someone finally dared to show Hitler as a human and not just as a reincarnation of pure evil. He did terrible things but they where all human. If you watch it, don't expect a movie that'll make you think very much. Alexander.... Now that was the worst movie I have seen since King Arthur, didn't even bother to wathc it all the way through. Bad story, bad acting and bad donut.

| The Ring 2 Saw it last night. The movie was okay (It takes a lot to scare me). The people in the theatre were incredibly loud and obnoxious. It ruined the movie watching experience. Before the movie started, one of the theatre employees lectured us about how "silence is golden" and how we should all turn off our cell phones "this is your first warning. you'll have your second warning during the previews". We were basically treated like pre-schoolers. There were three police officers in the theatre as well escorting loud people out. We should've just asked for a refund and left before the movie started. I'll never go to that place again.

| Alfie (the new one) It was alright. I didn't know all that much about it before I saw it, so I guess it didn't have any expectations to live up to.
