gonna watch the movie soon
the film just opened in my country not long ago and i shall watch it soon... it's so sad that the ratings on imdb & metacritics are so low...
anyhow i just feel that close-minded people who are upset with and reacting so strongly to "his dark materials" are only...
hello all...
was wondering if it is true that emails encouraging people to boycott "the golden compass" are going around... i think some people feel that it promotes atheism...
i personally thought the trilogy was great although the themes in it were a bit too difficult for children to...
his dark materials
im gonna cheat a little... this is actually 3 books...
but i think it would be his dark materials by philip pullman. i thought the development of the character, lee scoresby, in book 2(subtle knife) was very good... (sorry i was very affected by what happened to him)
last concert for me was ggggrreat!
my last concert was Mogwai... they were fantastic... i really enjoyed myself lots... their music is so dramatic and so engaging... i really can't understand how some of the people in the audience left in the middle of the gig to pee...
Mogwai...
Not really scary for some people i guess but to me it's the ultimate horror... The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien... I hate the feeling of being caught up in a dream where things don't make sense (e.g. the police station is out of proportion or something like that)... plus i hate the part...
Vonnegut, Foer, Heller
for me, i would say Kurt Vonnegut... I love his way of interpreting the Third Law of Motion in Slaughterhouse five... :D
Everything is illuminated made me laugh very badly... at the end of the book, i was both crying and laughing... oh my gosh...
Catch-22 didn't...
haha.... thanks for the support... i shall cut and paste this, and email it to my mom. she'll appreciate me more... :p but maybe i'll leave out the last part, in case she really asks and i don't wanna tell her the truth yet... :D
argh... u are so right.. it's so weird... books are really addictive! once i start, i can't stop. within a month, i bought one bookshelf of books. it doesn't help that sometimes rare books just pop up and it just feels so wrong not to grab them...
Next, i'm buying:
The Third Policeman by...
thanks lots
thank you all... i really appreciate your replies...
and yes, i've decided to heed all your advice and read the particular book first then read other books/comments/reviews about it to understand it better... maybe even reading the book itself a second time... ;)
animal farm
sorry... i'm new here so i was reading through the old threads...
i noticed that most (maybe everybody) found Animal Farm really good... My friend and i read it but he enjoyed it more than me(i think) because he studied history... So in order to enjoy "classics", must one...
I just finished Trainspotting
I cannot (i repeat, CANNOT) find the dvd for the film... Does it even exist? And i hope the subtitles are in standard english :p
But I just finished the book and it was really good. I wouldn't have wanted the book in any other way. The dialect makes it...
