Children and Young Adults

I understand what a child is.
Young Adult?!
Is this someone who has grown up physically but not mentally?
Is not someone either Adult, or Child like?
Wher are the lines drawn?
At what age is a person a young adult and how does the young adult become an adult adult?

I really do not know, the phrase mystifies me. Are some adults so childish that they have to lable themselves Young Adults?

I'd say young adults are older teens or younger 20's. Those just entering adult-hood.

I enjoy "Young Adult" literature, though I would no longer be considered a young adult myself. The emotions are high, the situations are often intense, the subject matter is more serious than children's/Middle-Grade lit, and things tend to move faster in the stories than the typical "Adult" book. You tend to get "cleaner"/more innocent romance in many YA books than you would in an adult fiction book as well.

I'm currently reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I feel justified in doing so after reading the Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. After that experience, my brain is fried.

Yeah, I did not agree with that article. It came to my attention after a bunch of YA authors were very "up in arms" about Ruth Graham's take on adults reading Young Adult books. I feel adults can (and should) read anything that brings them pleasure and that there is value and enrichment gleaned from many forms - even children's picture books.

Glad to hear you're enjoying a fun book! I have yet to read it, but have heard good things.
