Love Dick. Wait, that didn’t sound right. Philip K. Dick is an acquired taste, but his stories are amazing, and toe that line, like Vonnegut, of not really being about science fiction, but more social commentaries, the science taking a back seat. So the sci-fi elements can be cartoonish, but are overemphasized in that manner to get the satire across. That is why I feel like the Schwartzenegger film, although a good action movie and seemed more exciting, missed the great satirical edge of the original story. Check out his Clans of the Alphane Moon. Very funny when you find out what the “clans” actually are. And also, his Man in the High Castle is probably his most literary work, about an alternate universe where the U.S. lost WWII.
