Want some opinions about erotica I am writing

So, I am writing this erotic fiction book where a 40+ lady is cheating on her husband.

We all know that cheating is bad thing and you should not be in a relationship if you can cheat but still affair always makes a good stories (well i mean at least for books or movies) and i wrote like 102 pages story which revolve around this two fictional characters named Jenny and Jody.

this is the story of Jenny who meet a young man while attending her friend's marriage and somehow she falls for him. The guy is fun but like to live life without any commitment. Knowing she is not going to get caught over 1000 miles away from home they spent entire week together. It's adulterous but exciting to read which i can assure that.

So the thing happen is my publisher lady boss. she read it and she liked it and she even told me its amusing how the things evolve with each other in just a week but she can't publish my book because she said "Our main customers are ladies and they don't like to read stories about infidelity"but i highly doubt that. I seen in TV shows where wife's are cheating on their husbands all the time. if they didn't liked it then how those TV shows are even popular.

what i feel is ladies are like microwave they just need to turned on properly. If the guy knew it then it become hard to resist him.

So my question is do you think my lady is boss right? about ladies who read erotic fiction and want to see how many open minded girls are out there.

Never thought I, or my gender in general, would be compared to a microwave.

Anyhow, to be perfectly honest, the subject matter of your story wouldn't much matter to me if it were written in much the same way as your post here. Grammar is important and all that.

I think what your publisher might be saying is that their reader base is looking for the Happy Ever After type of read - you don't really get that with a book about adultery. Truth will out, as they say.

I do hope that your writing style is a little better than your posting style though lol otherwise your proof readers and editors should be shot ;)

Does your publisher have a set of guidelines for acceptable and non-acceptable content? If so it may state infidelity is a no go. If it is then you have to follow their guidelines. If that is not on their unacceptable list and your contract with them stipulates they have first right of refusal and they have refused the book, based on one person's opinion, you can shop it to other publishers.

I agree with regdog - many publishers have their own set of guidelines for what they will and will not publish. You might want to try a publisher that is known for erotic/racy stories that do not always have perfectly tied up, happy endings.

You can always self publish. HOWEVER, you need to make sure your grammar is near perfect. I don't say perfect because even top notch publishers mess up. I have yet to read a book that didn't contain at least one error. But if your blurb is rife with errors, most people will pass.
