I haven't read a lot of science fiction, but what I have read, I've enjoyed. One science fiction style novel that I read by Octavia Butler is called 'Kindred'. I read it while teaching an honors English class. It was very well-written and interesting. I especially enjoyed the historical context within it. The time travel aspect was intriguing as well. I highly recommend this book. It takes you back to a time in history that some would say is best left forgotten, but you know what they say about history and how it repeats itself.
