Embracing new technology?

There is absolutely no shortage of new technologies on our markets (new phones, computers, kicthen gadgets, apps, social networking sites etc).
But how much do you as a person embrace new technology in day-to-day life? Do you relish every new advancement in technology for the average person (and try to stay as cutting edge/modern as possible), or do you find yourself rejecting new technologies (even if there is an increasing amount of pressure to join the band wagon) or being increasingly wary of them?

Hi! in my case, I've never been obsessed with brands or having the latest version of a phone. As almost everybody does, I enjoy technology, I like having more facilities in my life like a good laptop, a good phone but I'm very concerned about money so I dont like spending a lot. In my case, it depends on if I really need it and if i can afford it, e.g. i dont have a tablet, because I dont need it.

I'm always interested in new technology however i find it increasingly hard to justify buying it. For example my mobile phone is so outdated it doesn't even have proper internet access on it (it can't even do apps) but its extremely robust, works very well for what i use it for (texting & calling), has great reception and the battery on it lasts for AGES (up to a whole week sometimes). So as much as i would like a cooler phone, i can't really justify throwing away a perfectly good phone for no other reason than wanting a cooler one.

In regards to social networking technology though, i only really use Facebook & email. I often pick up on trends long before they even become fashionable/well known but these days i find myself with increasingly little free time and so i don't take up the internet so much on everything that it has to offer (i hardly use forums these days and i don't use Twitter or Instagram at all etc).

I've got the perfect book for you:

I make it a point to never be an early adopter. I follow new tech trends and products but I only buy if it's something I would actually use and it has been out long enough that any 1st-2nd Generation bugs have been fixed.

I'm not a super early adopter, but I wait for prices to drop after the initial launch and bugs to be fixed. I'm pretty slow getting into social networking and wait until my friends are just really annoyed that I don't have one. I think I like to read about new technology than actually buy it, considering I'm not exactly raking in a ton of money to buy all the new gadgets, but it's fun to read about them.
