Wicked has been in my stack of books to be read for at least a couple of years now; every time I think I'm going to get to it next, I find myself picking out another book instead.
In a nutshell, I'm captivated by his unique and bizarre (some would say off-kilter) way of looking at the world, coupled with his ability to create and sustain a mood of equal parts mystery and menace.
These are my favorites, too, with the addition of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I've never been anything less than fascinated by a book or short story by Philip K. Dick.
I keep my book lists on scattered note cards, most of which I lose and forget about. The ones that remain are the ones that end up deciding which books eventually get read.
I understand where you're coming from, Wabbit. Recently, in an effort to escape having my reading choices prescribed by the local bookstore, I find myself seeking out relatively obscure books from specialty publishers. And more often than not, I'm extremely pleased with the result.
