Who is the best short story writer?

Alice Munro or Joyce Carrol Oates are both great short story writers. Agree with TJ too, Stephen King has written some great ones if you like supernatural stuff.

    The Catcher in the RYE

^ I agree with the above post. You either like it or you don't. As to why it has had staying power and is considered a book everyone should read, I think that has to with how different it was (from the mainstream) when it was first published. You have to remember that it was published in the...

Look Who's Back - Timur Vermes Adolph Hitler awakens unhurt and un-aged in 2008. People think he is an actor who never breaks character. But he is not. He is Hitler. Pretty funny so far.....

June 2015: Hilary Mantel - Wolf Hall

AVSG, I knew next to nothing about the Tudors before I read this, and I must say the book kept me heading back to wikipedia to learn more about the people portrayed in the novel (citation needed). From what I've read additionally I don't necessarily think More was an angel. The Cromwell...

Bring Up The Bodies - Hillary Mantel Sequel to Wolf Hall. At 30% through I like it just as much or more. Mantel's vision of Thomas Cromwell and the court of Henry the 8th is compelling.

June 2015: Hilary Mantel - Wolf Hall

Lol. I was reading it on kindle and had no idea the book was that big until after I had finished it. I kept wondering why it was taking me so long to get through. I kept looking at "thirty percent" left and thinking I should be done in a day or so, and then it kept going and going and going. In...
