I finished reading the Da Vinci Code a while ago and, since I really liked the book, I started reading Angels & Demons right after finishing the first one.
I'd have to say I liked Angels & Demons better. Somehow, there's more suspense in the book.
But I definitely like the symbolism Brown's...
I just finished The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini. I had my doubts about the book when I saw it in the bookstore, since stories about Afghanistan and Iraq seem to be getting quite 'popular', but it's an excellent read.
Well, looks like my reading behavior is pretty average.
I mostly read before I go to sleep and on the weekends. Those are usually the times when I finally find some time to just relax and grab a book.
I really envy the ones who can read at work. However, for most of us, that would not be a...
I mostly visit Donner in Rotterdam, because that one is the nearest bookstore with a decent collection of English books. And when I'm in Amsterdam I always visit Waterstone's and the American Book Center.
Where do you usually go?
Life of Pi is definitely worthwile reading. I'm still amazed how someone manages to fill 450 pages just talking about a guy (plus some animals) in a lifeboat.
I finished the book last week and I just bought Vernon God Little, which I'll probably start reading this weekend.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. Like I said, translating is a hard job and we definitely need translators for all of those people who don't speak english very well. There will be no more dissing! ;)
And as far as meeting the others is concerned, yes, I did meet some of them. Sounds...
I joined the forum yesterday, so I figured a short introduction would be nice.
I've been looking for a good reading forum for a while, and this one seems really nice (and decently sized). I'm a 25-year old female, living in the Netherlands. The vast majority of books I read are English books...
I just read:
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
The gift of Asher Lev - Chaim Potok
The little friend - Donna Tart
The bookseller of Kabul - Asne Seierstadt
Brick Lane - Monica Ali.
All good books, although I especially liked life of Pi.
I think the book you're talking about is 'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson. The movie that was made after the book is called the Haunting.
