Comic Collection question

Hello all,

Came here as an aspiring writer but when I saw the comic/graphic novel section it made me consider handling another issue through this group.

I have a rather large collection of comic books and graphic novels that I have come to own (not a collector myself) and I am looking to sell them. Could anyone perhaps give me a good place to start and/or how to go about this?

I'd prefer to sell them en masse and the money from their sale will be going to charity but primarily I just want to get them gone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The only place I can think of just now is ebay.com.

Or perhaps if you have any specialist comic stores in your area who may acquire them in bulk to sell on separately?

Yeah. I was thinking of trying ebay but worry over someone having to pay the shipping costs for one hundred pounds of comics.

As to the local comic store they would pay 3 cents per comic in bulk which comes out to all of 20 dollars (rough estimate) for a large collection of 'near mint' to 'mint' comics (to include hard book novels as well) that are as old as ten years with a few a little older.

Thanks. Anyone else know some sort of online comics forum where people go to sell/buy/trade comics let me know. :)

Generally, if you want to sell off your collection, I'd go with e-bay.
DON'T sell it all off at once- sort it out into 'lots' of 5 or 10 comics at a time if possible (or sometimes the sets sort themselves out naturally- eg all the comics when a certain creative team takes the reigns).

That way you can sell off your collection in a more controllable fashion- in terms of postage as well. Different people want different comics after all.

en masse is fine but you'll generally get less for each comic- not everyone can afford to buy in bulk, and those that can get the comics for a song, since there's no competition.

Also there are comics in your collection you should avoid parting with- those stories that still hold a special place in your conciousness, which'll shine in a few years time when you want to read through a load of old comics.

Go to "heritagecomics.com" They have a big operation with frequent, tremendous auctions; many options of how you can handle your comics. I'd be interested in your opinion and experience with them. Good luck. Do you have any Robinson Crusoe?
