    Looking for a novel I once read....Yeah yeah, hopeless you may say. Help me out here

    Looking for a novel that I once read, near the beginning of the novel a women bites/cuts off the head of a chicken and it runs around [headless]. Sorry it's so vague--any suggestions would be appreciated...
