    I originally joined for the book of the month, and nobody seemed to really participate in that. So, now I mostly lurk. But I am starting to respond to a some things.

    Speed reading help!!!!

    I'm relieved that speed reading is not favored here. I tried one of those speed reading books, which I'm sure are fine for texts that you detest but must read, manuals, etc. but I think texts (one enjoys) should be tasted and savored and that takes time.

    Best book you've read so far in 2008

    The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield. Sadly, it may be the only book I've read cover to cover so far this year. I also read it while sick with the flu. But I still think it was quite good.

    I think for me it was Laura Ingalls Wilder (I think I only had one) or the Nancy Drew books (I had quite a few of those).

    I used to re-read when I was younger, but usually it doesn't work for me anymore. There are some books that I will go back to if I'm feeling out of sorts, but usually I don't re-read. My husband is a HUGE re-reader. Drives me crazy actually, he's probably read each Tom Clancy about a million...

    Can't seem to finish Operation Shylock. I think it's cause I have to be in a certain frame of mind. I do hope to finish it, sometime.
