I suggest Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Also the Godless World books by Brian Ruckley. Both are gritty and while there's good and evil, it's not always clear cut. Erikson's books are an odd combination of gritty and epic. Many people die horribly, but certain characters...
Actually, I read Flint's 1632 series first, and then found out about Stirling's books, so yes. I absolutely adore them, especially the first two or so. I wasn't so fond of the Canon Law one, but in general I adore the series.
I'm waiting impatiently to see what happens now that, as of Dreeson...
Just a question. I heard that Stirling was going to reveal what caused the change in the Dies the Fire in his Change novels. I'm planning on picking them up in the near future. My question, is, simply:
Does Stirling actually answer that question? If not yet, does it appear that he's leading...
