Heinlen Heinlen is a very complex character, and you can't take his fictional characters as speaking for him. His views on sexuality, among other things, changed quite a bit over the years as well. I believe that this may have been an example of what he thought about Homosexuality at the time...

Space Opera Have you read any of the true classics, such as Doc Smith (Lensmen series, etc.) or A. E. van Vogt (World of Null-A, etc.)? Also, the Flinx series, along with the other Commonwealth stories by Alan Dean Foster are pretty good, and some of Andre Norton's future history stuff...

I once read a space opera spoof by a major author (written in the 60's, maybe?) of the "hyper-intelligent twins (male, of course! ;)) build a rocket in their back yard and go carreening around the solar system" ilk, with a WICKED twist at the end. Unfortunately, I can't even remember the...
