I'm up to 'O is for Outlaw' now :)

Has anyone heard of an author named Dennis Hiatt? I'm hearing mixed reviews about his work & if you've read any, I'm wondering what you think.

I'd say it's "so bad it's good". I've heard rumors of a movies that will follow the book much more closely.

I highly recommend 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress'. And I've heard good things about 'The Puppet Masters'

Yeah, I also read the next part of the series, "Sabotage". I give that one 4/5. It's much faster paced than the first and I'm interested in seeing where the series goes from here. The author needs to focus more on character development though. I still don't feel like I 'know' Avery Clark or...

I also agree with DATo. Very few writers are on par with Dickens. It's also very hard to find critics that can put aside their own biases and review a work objectively.

You can read a review of a book that says its well written. Then you can read another review of the exact same book that says it's poorly written. I know that things are subjective, but I'm interested in knowing what YOU have to see in order to recognize good/bad writing.

Hello and welcome! I'm new here too. Currently I'm going through Sue Grafton's alphabet series. (Just started E is for Evidence)

I recently finished 'Constellation' by A.A. Smith. It's pretty good. Kind of a cross between 'La Femme Nikita' and 'Top Gun' in space. Some parts are amateurishly written but I've come to expect that from new authors. All in all I give it 3.5 out of 5.

So far I've read 3 books by Robert A. Heinlein: Friday, Starship Troopers & The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Didn't like Friday at all but I loved The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. What are your favorite Heinlein books?
