William Golding: Lord Of The Flies

Lord of the Flies is one of the few books I've abandoned. I got to chapter six when I decided I should stop. I found the story to be dull and the characters uninteresting. I still have the chapter bookmarked in case I decided I want to finish the book someday.

    Which e-reader do you own?

I have a Kindle Paperwhite but I rarely use it now.

John Green: The Fault in Our Stars

I have read Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns and even though I finished both novels, I really disliked them, I practically forced myself into finishing them. That being said, my sister read The Fault in Our Stars and loved it. She kept begging me to read it but I said I wouldn't; I'm just not...

I honestly don't understand why some people find the book inappropriate. It has been challenged and in some parts of the States, banned. There are some who think that it promotes infanticide and I wonder if they've really read the book. I personally didn't find it disturbing and I don't think it...

The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich

I'm a huge History geek and so this book seems extremely interesting. I always see it listed when searching for non-fiction (History) books. Your post made me really want to read it so I added it to my wish list. Have you read Berlin Diary?

Tetralogy. Since they're a total of four books. The author calls the series 'The Quartet' :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. If I'm not mistaken, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere that the author didn't meant for it to be a series but rather as a stand alone novel when she first wrote it, it's only after the huge success that she decided to write the companion...

I'm not sure I understand. Are you suggesting that it would be better if we add a summary and a link to the book?

I believe Lonesome Dove is the third book in terms of the series' plot but many have said that it can be read as a stand alone novel because it's 'complete' and apparently the best in the series. Re Zane Grey- that's another author that I've heard a lot about but have never gotten around to...

Thanks  I've heard and read excellent reviews on this book and how it's considered the best Western novel of all time. So this really made me want to read it. I haven't received it yet, hopefully sometime this week, but I know that it's a big and long book. I bought it for $17.29. It...

The Giver by Lois Lowry :star5: A thought provoking and extremely interesting novel. The story ends abruptly and I kind of wished it were longer but nevertheless, the ending was satisfying. If you're looking for a quick and easy read, I recommend it.
