Thanks for the reply regarding author Peter Olov Enquist. I've not read any of Dean Koontz' books, though I've seen a slew of them on the library shelves.

The Portrait by Iain Pears and found it very enjoyable because, to me, it has depth and substance and unpredictability. It was refreshing to read a different style of writing that was at the same time interesting.
Sunday's Silence by Gina Barkhordar Nahai, and this was an interesting enough...
Actually I'm enjoying The Portrait very much - my first read of Iain Pears. I'm about half-way through and, like you, this is a new style of writing for me. I'll have to take a look also at the two others you mentioned by him.
Thanks,
Nancy
The Lost German Slave Girl by John Bailey about the controversy as to whether this young woman is a German immigrant illegally enslaved or a light-skinned black woman. It is set in New Orleans in the 1800's, and I found the story intriguing and the purported historical info. enlightening...
Sometimes a number of books appeal to me at the same time, and that's my present situation so am reading The Portrait by Iain Pears; A Catch of Consequence by Diana Norman; The Pyramid by Ismail Kadare; and Sunday's Silence by Gina B. Nahai. And hopefully I'll finish all of them before my...
I'm interested in opinions of those who have read February House by Sherill Tippins. My local library doesn't have it, and I'm tempted to buy it based on the reviews on Amazon but would like to hear also from any of you who may have read it.
Thanks,
Nancy
Has anyone read Per Olov Enquist? I've not read this author yet so have no opinion but did just read a review of the book entitled Lewi's Journey and wonder if anyone is familiar with the author.
Thanks,
Nancy
I saw Craig Crawford interviewed about his recent book entitled Attack the Messenger which is about the relationship of the media to the politicians and the people. I can't give you my opinion yet as I was unable to locate it in my local library today, so am considering buying it. It may fall...
I've used Harriet Roth's Cholesterol-Control Cookbook for years. It has some great recipes that family and friends who are not even concerned about their cholesterol have enjoyed thoroughly - including her chocolate cake recipe. The Moosewood cookbooks are referred to frequently here, and I...
I haven't read Music and Silence yet, but did read another of Rose Tremain's books entitled The Colour and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Kite Runner is one of my favorites. What a read.

Yes - I do intend to read him further. I see where there will be a discussion of Broken April in Cleveland in Nov. - just stumbled across this on the Web so am not certain, but perhaps it's at Case Western. Anyway - wish I were in that area and I'd attend. I'll follow your suggestion and...
Oh ok - thanks for the explanation. Guess I'd better re-read the agreement, though, just to be sure I toe the line. Appreciate the help.
Regarding the Red Sox note at the bottom of your post ------ and then there are the Braves fans - woe is us.

Am currently enjoying a book by Sharyn McCrumb entitled Ghost Riders. Had intended to check out one of her other books, Songcatcher, but it wasn't in the library so took this one instead and so far, so good.
