Against Me! I guess you can call it "folk punk"? See http://www.myspace.com/againstme (Check out: Reinventing Axl Rose) Its lyrics: http://www.completealbumlyrics.com/lyric/85920/Against+Me+-+Reinventing+Axl+Rose.html Good stuff. I love intelligent, witty bands that sing more than just...

Never heard of 'em. Never heard of the Fallout Boys, but I am not exactly tuned well to pop culture, hollywood, or any corporatized "rebellion" culture. I was recently turned on to "Against Me!" They make me feel happy and fuzzy inside.

    In a reading rut?

Winter Library Library books are my preference as well. I also have libraries order books that I want to read or have enjoyed: spread good book access to others! Help them fight back against the deluge of pop culture books! Ahem. --- I have a hard time reading when I am hot. I don't...

What Book Changed Your Political Thinking?

Anarchy Anarchists had their passion and guts pushing direct action for women rights, labor rights, and civil rights. Emma Goldman was arrested numerous times just for giving lectures about women health and birth control. Anarchism had a massive movement back then. And I dare say that...

What Book Changed Your Political Thinking?

I remember when I was assigned to read it shortly after graduating high school and I was at my parents' for the winter book, my mom saw me reading it and made a huge deal about it. The Red Scare didn't end with McCarthy to her it seems. Not much has changed since the Manifesto, in fact, in...

    In a reading rut?

I Have I have thought about getting natural light bulbs too, saves energy, and it just feels a lot better on the eyes, not to mention it makes a room look better too. When I was apartment hunting not too long ago, one fellow had the entire place with such bulbs, but I was denied because I smoke.

What Book Changed Your Political Thinking?

. Amen to that. When I moved out of my parents' home many years ago, I made a conscious decision to never buy a television. If it wasn't for the Internet, I would have never learned and began following independent media like I have been. Its been only little more than a year that I have done...

What Book Changed Your Political Thinking?

Anarchy CrimeThinc's "Fighting for Our Lives" magazine issue turned me on to Emma Goldman. Someone left it out at my workplace, I picked it up out of curiosity and need of reading material. I had no idea that it was anarchy literature. Anarchism is the most misunderstood political and social...

Emma Goldman, The Censored Hero of Our Times The parallels between what was happening in her time, her criticisms of it, and our time are almost too goddamn uncanny. One of my favorite quotes by her is "If voting actually did anything, they'd make it illegal." :-)

    In a reading rut?

Usually When it happens to me, it is time to start reading something random and different than what I normally read. I go to the library and nonchalantly pick up books to select. And sometimes, I just don't read for a few days. I get burned out in keeping up to date with current events and the...

What Book Changed Your Political Thinking?

Okay, Rephrase the Question What political books got you started down a different line of political books if you hadn't read that one political book to begin with? :-)

My final message to all members.

Too Attached Manuscript, I made a pamphlet once for an event. My father saw it and commented on it without knowing that I had made it. He complained about its layout and design -- a lot. I was a little off-put, but then I realized that I had a unique gift: honesty without it being shaded one...

Have you read Emma Goldman's Living My Life? I am hungry. My feet is crusted with farm crud, but I live in the city. My roommate's fish tank water filter sounds like someone urinating in a never ending release. I am contemplating staying awake 24 hours straight. Odds are that I will trick...
