    Lee Child: Killing Floor

I guess it is believable for a layperson who wouldn't know any better. I bought it and have no trouble believing a well trained person of smaller stature can drop larger guys, even a bunch of them. For me, having read all the books and watched the movie, I was ok with it.

    Lee Child: Killing Floor

What I meant was that he was able to do justice to the role, and I was able to get past the physical differences. Things change in movies, and to me the personality is more important then physical description.

    S. M. Sterling: Marching Through Georgia

Your right, they are. But what comes from that change has to make sense. The direction history changes in the Drakon series I just don't buy.

    Goodreads

I am always looking for new people to follow in goodreads. I added those who listed their usernames as friends. I am Travis (Home of Reading) if anyone wants to add me.

    S. M. Sterling: Marching Through Georgia

Its not a bad book, although I have some problems with his take on the historical changes and how the world would develop because of them. That being said the first book is really pretty good. I didn't really like books 2 or 3 as much, but if you stick with it, book 4 is really a treat.

S.M. Stirling: Island in the Sea of Time

I have to disagree. I prefer this series greatly over the Draka series. While Marching through Georgia was decent, the middle 2 in that series are somewhat disconnected and mediocre. By comparison all three books in the island series are exceptional. My only real complaint is the series ends...

    S.M. Stirling: Under the Yoke

Keep going through the series. The 4th book, Draka, is by far the best. It is just excellent.

    Current Non-Fiction reads

That is by far the best book on WWI you can find. Tuchman is an exceptional historian and writer.

Who is your favourite author, and why?

For me right not it's David Weber. I love Sci-Fi and his world building is just great. Also, I love it when he mixes high-tech sci-fi with low-tech, not in the steampunk way but in the high tech people on a low tech planet way.

    Dick Wolf

Ehh, nevermind. It's really not important, just not what I would have expected from him. If the books are good then they are good. That's all that really matters.

Because that style of TV show is opposite the norm. The dictates of a tv show usually say make an ongoing plot thread between stories.

    Hi all

That drives me crazy. The Fantasy section at the book store is a wasteland for real fantasy. I don't know if you have heard of it, but there is the first in a series by John Gwynne called Malice that was pretty good and definitely not the YA style of fantasy (consequently I just finished it...

    Dick Wolf

Its weird he went that route since his TV show was so 1 and done story wise.

    Hi all

I am new to this forum, but poking around I see a lot of conversation about books I like, so I think I found a good place to hang out. About me, I prefer books in the sci-fi, mystery and thriller genres along with history and biographies. I also like fantasy from time to time, but tend to...

    Dick Wolf

What made the show work is each episode was more or less a stand along. There is a crime, cops find the person responsible and then there is a trial. He stuck to that formula for 20 years and it worked. That is less novel in the book world and I can think of several series that have that same...
