List your favorite Stephen King novels

I've only read The Green Mile and Pet Sematary. Won't ever read Pet Sematary again - it gave me the ebee jeebies. But I loved The Green Mile.

I just wanted to say that it's nice to see Firestarter getting so many mentions. I love this book, but it doesn't seem to be generally very well-liked amongst King fans.

Its ages since I read any of his books, but I remember when I read The Shining, I was actually frightened to turn over the page. Christine was good too, but the film didnt get anywhere near it.

I've only read a few of his books (conflicting views from other people have put me off), but 2 that I read and liked were Carrie and 'Salems' Lot.

5. The Drawing of the Three
6. The Eyes of the Dragon

The Stand

Not into horror type books as a rule, but bought after reading about this one, I Must admit its One of the Best books I have ever read! Not at all what I thought it would be

I like most of King's work. I guess The Stand is first, but how come nobody mentioned Cujo? It's way up there. Like Misery, Gerald's Game, and a few others, it contains no supernatural horror, extra-terrestrials, para-normal events, or other suspension-of-disbelief requirements. It could happen. Books that could happen are far more scary, to me, than ones that can't. Cujo invoves a monster - one that could conceivabley exist (and probably does exist) in almost any town in the USA.

Excuse my little bit of off-topic.

I was on vacation earlier this month in Maine and drove through some of the Country that was used as background for King's books such as It and Insomnia. It gave me an eerie feeling as I passed through. Especially driving along the river.

I did not like my first King book but went on to read another at the urging of someone and was soon addicted to King. I find it difficult to name a favorite but I did like, among many others :

The Dark Tower Series
IT
Insomnia
Fire Starter
