Sometimes a movie leaves an imprint on you. You feel one way when you start watching it, but you are not the same when it's over. It probably didn't change your life, but it did something to you for a few days or at least a few hours.

What movies had the greatest emotional impact on you?

For me it's:
Requiem for a Dream
Amelie
Garden State
Magnolia

Emotionally impacting movies (for me, at least):

Crash
Magnolia
American Beauty
Memento
Million Dollar Baby
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Psycho
A.I.
The Matrix
Full Metal Jacket (and most other Kubrick films)
Anything by M. Night Shyamalan
Anything by Quentin Tarantino

...just to name a few.

I cant think of that many at the moment but La Haine and Full metal jacket were powerful movies. Especially La Haine.

Wow, good topic! :D

For me:

What dreams may come
Hotel Rwanda

I thought of ......

Hotel Rwanda
Pay it Forward
The Passion of the Christ

There's more, but my brain hurts today

I am adding A Very Long Engagement. It's a love story about a girl who loses track of her fiancee during WW1. If you are a fan of Amelie I think you'll love it but it's sad instead of funny.

My list is :

City of Angels
Shawshank Redemption
Run Lola Run
The Princess Bride
While you were sleeping ( because I didn't see it )

Sure there are more but can't think of them at the moment :)

I have to put

Meet Joe Black
Far and Away
City of Angels
Angel Eyes
Dances with Wolves
Brave Heart
A I

and er  Bambi :D
probably think of a lot more later...

These movies are not in any order and it's actually a pretty long list of movies which had a huge impact on me, not only on an emotional level. Here it is:

Delicatessen
Fight Club
Leon - The Professional
Dances with Wolves
Mononoke - Hime
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Big Lebowski
Blade Runner
Koyaanisqatsi
Twelve Monkeys
Groundhog Day
Yojimbo
The Thin Red Line
C'era una volta il West
Yume
A Clockwork Orange
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Shichinin no samurai

These movies had an impact on me, in some form or another.

Not in any particular order....

Apocalypse Now
Raise the Red Lantern
Death in Venice
The Searchers
Dances with Wolves
Heat
The Heiress (the old version)
Gone with the Wind
Platoon
Monster
La Dolce Vita
La Vita e Bella
most Scorcese
most Tarantino

Most movies for me are pure entertainment. There are a few rare gems that stand out which make me sit back and think.

The one that springs to mind, which I am surprised no-one has mentioned yet is Schindler's List.

It's a long movie, with some truly horrific mental and visual images, but it is really a movie about hope, that there is some-thing good out there.

I've only watched the movie once and will probably watch it again one day. But that one viewing in the cinema when it was released still sits in the back of my mind.

One of the best in my opinion

Off the top of my head:

Adaptation
Dances With Wolves
Happiness
Shawshank Redemption
Forrest Gump
The Green Mile
Sumersault
High Noon
American History X (will never watch it again, but glad I did once)

The Five Obstructions Mostly personal to the stars but the challenge between the two is exceptional as the master and the student try to better each other and ultimately learn.

Oh City of Angels definatly! Made me glad to be alive.
American Physco (or however you spell it!) was great. I have to return some video tapes :D

Some great films have been mentioned in this thread. A few that have made an impact on me are:

Finding Neverland
Spirited Away
Star Wars IV - VI
12 Angry Men
The Fisher King
