J.K. Rowling

Nope, but she's the richest women in Great Britain.. the Queen included  . I think that either Bill Gates or the Sultan of Brunei holds the title of richest person in the world.

I heard bill Gates its the richest in the world I was just wondering if JK Rowling had over took who used to be the richest person in the world to become the richest in the world :p

The ten richest people in the world this year according to Forbes are listed below. How many have you even heard of?

Bill Gates
Warren Buffett
Lakshmi Mittal
Carlos Slim Helu
Prince Alwaleed Bin Talad Alsaud
Ingvar Kamprad
Paul Allen
Karl Albrecht
Lawrence Ellison
S. Robson Walton

Interestingly (and I think good news), the Wal-Mart people are represented by only one guy this year. A few years ago there were three or four Waltons on the list.

give the new harry potter book a week and she will top that list!!

I would have thought Paris Hilton would be there...
sigh, back to my instant coffee fuzzy TV on my torn couch :(:(

I heard somewhere shes a billionaire now, but that might be American Dollars rather than English pounds.......not sure.

Heh, not likely she'll ever get near being the richest person in the world. Ever. But hey, she's reached her billion in a way less harmful than most. If not least harmful.

Bill Gates (computers)
Warren Buffett (financial investments)
Lakshmi Mittal (steel)
Carlos Slim Helu (telecommunications)
Prince Alwaleed Bin Talad Alsaud (investments and property)
Ingvar Kamprad (IKEA founder)
Paul Allen (computers)
Karl Albrecht (supermarket founder)
Lawrence Ellison (database software)
S. Robson Walton (supermarket founder)

What's harmful about Microsoft, Oracle, Wal-Mart, Aldi, IKEA, telefonos, etc?

J.K Rowling

Everybody is talking about Harry Potter... but the question I am interested in is what is next for her? Surely she can't milk the cash cow forever or will she try somehow to extend the life of the Potter books?

So what's next for Mrs Rowling? Is she a one idea wonder like L. Frank Baum with his Wizard of Oz books? He tried to publish other books but they were never a success like his Oz books were.

So what WILL she do next? Will she try and extend the Potter books? Will she publish new books set in the Potter world and myth? Give up writing? Will she write something completely new? If so, what kind of book would it be? Another kids book? Something more adult? Fantasy or something other?

What is her next move? Let the speculation begin!

I believe that she will somehow try to extend the life-span of the Harry Potter series. I just think that she would love writing about him too much to give him up, and also there is the factor of the highly-obssesive Potter fans who would pester her non-stop for more :p

I don't think she will prolong the series. I think after book 7 she'll be done. I absolutely believe she can milk it forever. She could certainly stop writing and life off the royalties for the rest of her life. I think she'll write again......probably not for the same age group or genre. I think she'll break out something new.

Yeah i agree i doubt she will write very much again she has enough money and she is already achieved in 8 years what some authors find it hard to do in a lifetime. She is a household name and everyone knows about her.

I have no idea what she'll do afterwards but I do believe she could milk Potter for a very long time. By the time all seven movies are released, the animated series that must be in development somewhere, the action figures and who knows what else. She'll be involved in all of it for a long while. Maybe she'll do The Silmarillion of the Potter world? She doesn't seem to me to be the type that would want to tarnish the books by going on too long.

J.K. did say she will continue to write after book 7, it just won't be anything about Harry Potter.

i think that she will continue to write, although she could milk off HP for a VERY VERY LONG TIME.

i think that a Silmarillion of HP would be a great idea! i have always wondered about the lives of all of the people that harry hears about! (the dead and gone people, anyway)

but because she is so well known i think that any book she writes PERIOD will sell like no other book has ever sold.

Whatever she writes will sell well of course but I don't know if it's possible for her to top the success of Potter. Very hard act to follow up.

Exactly so! If I was a writer would not like to be in her shoes. You would be so aware that the whole world is just waiting to compare anything you do with Harry Potter even if your work is totally different from Harry Potter. It's not a situation that I would like to be put on. Hopefully she can relax and just take pleasure in writing whatever she feels like doing next without the pressure getting to her!
