of love and other demons murder

i recently finished reading of love and other demons by gabriel garcia and found the ending a bit mysterious.
how did father aquino die?
im referring to pages 132 to 135.

my theory is:
that he was murdered by the abbess because of her feeling insulted by aquino's remarks that sierva maria was not possessed by a demon.
im curious to hear from anyone about this theory or another.

Although this is a book I will probably never read, you may have just spoiled the ending for everyone who hasn't yet had the chance to read it. If I were you (to avoid some nasty commentary about this post) I would edit your first post on this forum to include the spoiler tages, such as those above.

When you want a spoiler covered, put the word "spoiler" between brackets "[...]" at the start of the text, and follow up with a "[/spoiler]" at the end.

you are missing one of life's few good and true pleasures if you do not read this book. Marquez is amazing, and the central conceit of "of love and other demons" is brilliant

you are really missing something here..your "i will probably never read this book' is dismissive and foolish..get thee to a library

Will I still enjoy the book even after the person two posts up said a little too much about the ending?

You will. It's an amazing work. It really won't matter. The writing is so beautiful and Marquez's ideas are complex and intricate. There is still plenty to have from reading it.
