What do you use as a bookmark?

I use those post it flags, very sticky, and you can mark the paragraph where you left off. Also useful to mark quotes or passages you want to refer to again.

I usually just rip a strip off a piece of paper and use that as I am always losing my bookmarks (and everything else for that matter :p ) At the moment, though, I am using a bookmark that I got from the Cathedral - a tourist attraction in the centre of Christchurch here in NZ. I visited it yesterday to take pictures for a friend overseas so I thought that I may as well use it until I end up losing that one too

At the moment the sentence "everywhere suddenly nowhere little spider" as a book mark. Because I wrote a lot of random words on a sheet of paper and then I started cutting the words out separately, that particular "sentence" wasn't entire cut out yet, so it functioned good as a bookmark.

I'm so glad there are so many people who feel the same about turning the corners or bending the binding on books. It is horrible letting someone borrow a book and have it returned all in a state of disrepair.

I have a few bookmarks. I also will use receipts from the book purchase or scrap peices of paper--whatever is handy.

Generally scraps of paper but I do have a habit of just leaving the book open face down on the page I'm at.

I use some of the cardboard label tags I get when I buy clothes. They look like bookmarks anyway :D

i always use postcards or the bookmarks from the bookshop which i always get when i buy a book ( i have a big collection of them now :D )

sorry but i do not really understand what you mean, is my english that bad??? who shall i have killed? was it irony? was there something in my post with a false meaning?can somebody tell me please!

No, it was a joke. There is another member with the same avatar and he hasn't been very active for a while.

ok thank you! you really made me insecure! it's sometimes hard to write/speak in a foreign language because it's impossible to know everything especially things from common speech
you gave my self-confidence back to me :D :D

Today, for a bookmark, I am using a toenail clipping from my big toe.

Do you let them grow on purpose? They must be like what's-the-name-of-that-athlete's fingernails to be of any use. Almost forgot, all that letting the toenails grow so long it's sooo hippy

As I don't want to be accused of spamming, I use bookmarks as bookmarks. They are free. You get them in bookshops; bookshops mail them to you when they send you a book. Even companies that are not bookshops send them to you. I am using one from Wienn Konzerthaus (sp?):p

I only let one grow, and cut all the others. Apart from this I maintain excellent personal hygene and eat lots of meat.

I also used to be a chronic corner page folder. However, since everyone knows I love books, I am brought back bookmarks from all different countries and cities as souvenirs. I also cross stitch bookmark for myself and for friends. So, I always have beautiful bookmarks to accompany me. They are good conversation starters for when I'm on the subway, Marta, or on the bus.

I use the same paper book mark i got free with a book about 7 years ago. Been using it since. Ofcouse if i am reading more than one book then i have to use scraps of paper.

I admit I have folded pages back. Although now that I have started borrowing books from the library I don't. I am currently using a book mark that I crocheted. It is a cute curly book worm with a tassel on his tail. :)
