Children's Fantasy Book (I'm pulling my hair out about this!)

First off, I'm a newbie, and thanks for having this forum!

I watched the movie, "Tuck Everlasting" (based on the book) last night and it reminded me of a different book I read when I was younger (about 12-15 years ago). It's absolutely killing me that I can't remember the title or author and have unsuccessfully been able to find it by googling keywords.

These are bits and parts that I remember:

It was set in modern day (not old , like in Tuck Everlasting).
A young girl met this family that consisted of a mother, son (same age as the main character), and a ? younger ? daughter. I think she ended up falling for the son and then later found out that they were all like hundreds of years old, but were doing something to make themselves not age or die. There were other things going on in the plot that I just can't remember. I believe she was staying at this house with them for the summer or something.

This may sound silly, but remember that it kind of spooked me after I read it, so I really think I tried to push the memory of the story out of my head, hence the reason why I can only remember small details of it now.

Is there any chance that anyone out there has read this book and may know what I'm talking about? I would appreciate any leads!

Thank You!

Sorry, don't know the title but the thought of a drowned girl came to mind!
Does this ring any bells? Erm. could be a spoiler.... was it a ghost story?
Might just jarr a memeory! Good luck!

Hmm.. no I don't remember a drowned girl... I don't think it was a ghost story either... just really weird! I kind of remember something about the girl sleepwalking in the middle of the night... and she would wake up to find herself out doors in the moonlight.. or something like she was in a trance and she knew her body was moving but she couldn't stop it?

The only thing is, I'm not sure if I'm getting this confused with another story, which is why I didn't mention it in my original post. I can't believe I'm still thinking about this book! I think I'm going to go to my grave never knowing!!

:(

there is a similar passage in john crowley's "little, big" but the protagonist is male...sounds like a bodice ripper to me..what exactly wheere they doing to live forever?

That's the part I can't quite remember... hehe. I'm pretty sure they were drinking some kind of a special serum or from a magical well of some sort.

After thinking about it more last night, I think there's also a part where she wanders into the woods (maybe during her sleepwalking ventures) and she finds a voodoo priestess hermit type of character that you initially think is bad and maybe the one who is putting her in this trance when she sleeps. I don't think she was any harm though and was just trying to warn the girl about something (like maybe the family's practices).

Hi Anna,
I think you may be remembering "Locked in Time" by Lois Duncan. It's in print so you should be able to get a nice description of it on amazon.com.

OH MY GOD!!! That's it!! I didn't even have to read the description because as soon as I read the title, I KNEW that was it!

I've already ordered it.. less than $6 on overstock.com, shipping included!

YOU ARE THE BEST!!
Thank you so so so so much!!!
:D :D :D :D :D
