I watched Spirited Away again last night. I recommended it in the Asian films thread as well. It is one of the most moving and funny films you will ever watch. It might be animated but don't let that stop you. It really is wonderful.

I watched Fidel and Lilja 4-ever this weekend. Fidel I didn't much like*, but Lilja 4-ever was a good movie. Not exactly what I expected from Lukas Moodysson and not exactly cheerful, but still interesting to watch.

*Either speak Spanish or speak English, but don't go running around talking in a stupid Spanish accent and then speaking Spanish when the dialogue doesn't really matter to the story. It's annoying as hell.

lies, you haven't ever failed to challenge my stereotyped perception of gender roles (or something like that) so far. impressive.*thumb up*

Watched Coach Carter last night, but now I don't really know why I finished it. Coach starts to train a poor high school basketballteam who are failing classes and losing games and get them to be better on the court and in class. Nothing remotely new in the concept, they don't even try to put even the smallest twist on the story.
Can't say I was too disapointed with it though, I hate this type of movie just for being made.

What do you mean?

The Ladykillers... ha! Another Coen gem to add to my collection (Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Intolerable Cruelty). I can't wait for Fun with Dick and Jane.

i like dark humour too. fargo was too fucking funny. i have never been able to look at a wood chipper the same. but, ugh, i just thought this dragged and dragged. i had such high hopes for it.

Another One For The Underdog - Napoleon Dynamite

Just finished watching Napoleon Dynamite. I thought it was histerical. If your into indies than this one is worth watching.

I went and saw The Longest Yard at the movies on the weekend. Not overly funny, but still a good watch. I don't think that Adam Sandler can ever beat Big Daddy or Billy Madison - both are /hilarious/ :D

To put it simply, it meant that you are a special girl/lady. To elaborate it? heck, it requires another an hour to get down to the details. It was meant to be good, anyway. :)

A Very Long Engagement--I was quite surprise to see Jodie Foster in this movie. One of the better movies I've seen in awhile.

The last movie I saw was "The Year of the Yao". It's actually a documentary. I liked it because I am a huge basketball fan. I also found it very inspiring. It's not just all about Yao Ming's stardom to NBA but it's also about his friendship with his translator Colin, a young American, who was also new to his job as a translator. :)

The last movie I watched was Event Horizon. Decided to watch this after watching Lost in Space (1998) on Wednesday (I finally finished that damn movie after about 5 tries, couldn't stand it. Lacy Chabert's a super hottie now, but damn, it reminded me how much I couldn't stand her F'ing chipmunk voice & whiney attitude in Party of Five; don't even get me started on how I feel about Matt LeBlanc, ugh). It was my 2nd time watching Event Horizon, liked it just as much as the first time. I really should watch it at night by myself... scary shit.

I think the last movie i watched was The Fifth Element by Luc Besson. I really love this movie. It's funny, full of action, has a good story and is full of imagination, and it even has substance.
My second favorite Besson movie. My Vote: 9/10

I know. This film is wonderful. Very different from a lot of futuristic films I've seen. Great costume, set design and soundtrack. My favorite song from the film is from the taxi scene which is not on the soundtrack so I had to get it from Kazaa and I hate to do something like that.
