3.2 You may promote your own site or service in your signature only. If you are recommending a service in your post and have an interest in that service, please state so in your post.

3.4 Commercial advertising in posts is not allowed. The definition of commercial advertising includes, but is not limited to, links to online auction sites, as well as direct links to your online store. Links which include store affiliate code are not allowed. Messages and posts which are blatantly posted only to advertise your product or service will be edited and may lead to a ban from the forums.
Sirmyk, I think it's impossible for your book to have escaped the notice of regular forum members. While I certainly think you've been active in talking about it, and there is a thread about it that you've been a part of (although I haven't read the thread), I haven't noticed you contravening the laws as stated above. For the most part I've seen your comments made in response to other people's questions. If John Irving became a member of the forum, I would sure as hell love to see him contributing to threads about himself and answering my questions.

Consequently I see no reason for this to be the basis for your departure. If the mods have identified that you are walking a thin line or have overstepped it, then take a step back. If necessary take a break from TBF to let things settle down. But to categorically say that you will leave because of this is just plain silly.

Let's not get into another 'TBF is going downhill' debate because we've been there done that and realised that the solution is to use the forum how you want within the rules.

Didn't we just go through this crap not that long ago? Someone was whining about not enough moderation and now we are getting it and now someone else is whining. You have to decide if you want to be here enough to put up with the rules. If you don't, then leave. If you like coming here and being a productive member of the forum, then stay.

BTW, I refuse to vote. Its your decision, you make it. Have a nice day. :)

p.s. Sorry if I come across a bit testy, I had a short night's sleep, so I am not in the best of moods today.

Apples and oranges comparison. If you break the rules, you should be taken to task over it or have your thread closed. Though I'd be upset if I were Sirmyk and knew that if others thought my posts were cute and funny enough, that others would overlook it and make up reasons as to why the given rule breaking should be allowed.

Stick around, so you got taken to task, so what? Even if ya got a strike, it's really no big deal. You do provide a good perspective to the board-I say hang around.

I've had no quarrels with sirmyk on this board (that I can remember...!) but I voted go for the same reasons as magemanda and Phil_t.

Sirmyk,
I see in poll results that you have voted against yourself?
So what's the question?

I am personally voting "go"

Unless Peder is talking about this.... I can't tell who voted for what......

edit....I just discovered that you click on the number in the poll.....

Whenever I click to to see the results in this poll, the names come up also. First time I've noticed that. I didn't think it happened in the October book of the month poll. But there is a notice above this poll saying it is a public poll and voters names will be shown. Still learning the mysteries. :)

The poll has been closed. It is not appropriate to vote on whether or not someone should leave.

Peder - we do not have an open poll for the book of the month discussions which is why you can not see who has voted.

i agree with kook. is an author not supposed to discuss their work when they are asked?

True... I just need another 1500 sales and I'll break even.

Well, now the scale as been balanced to zeros. I guess I'll stick around until warning number three comes around.
