Hello
I just joined and hence no longer a board lurker :D, I am pretty much the world reader here. I usually read more french literature.

Lets see, I hope one day to own a whole library in my backyard
and I make it a point to discover new authors constantly by browsing at the book stores.

Havent been able to do the E-Book thing yet - you would think
I would being a computer programmer and all but to no avail.

Talk to you all soon

Mira

ooouuuuuu, me, i'd LUV to own a bookstore!!
but so hard to compete with places like Chapters 'n stuff

btw, welcome to the best book corner on the planet:D

Hi there, Mira. :)

Well, I'm probably too new myself to be naturally part of the welcoming party, but there were three things about your post which called my attention.

First, you like French lit, then? I'm a big Alexandre Dumas fan here (as my username suggests), and I also like Balzac, so I was wondering if you liked those authors too. Plus, I recently bought some really thick volumes by Moliere, Victor Hugo, and Stendhal, so I'll be catching up on other Frenchies too.

Second, I found it interesting that you're a computer programmer, but can't get into e-books. I'm an Electrical Engineer myself, and my whole major has to do with both computer hardware and software (amongst other things), but for some reason I'm not keen on e-books either. Oh well, gotta love the feel of the traditional paper variety of books!

And third, sorry to maybe sound a bit ignorant, but is your avatar a picture of yourself, or is it some actress or singer you really like? Just curious.

Anyway, pleased to make your acquaintance, and see you around. :)

Thanks for the welcome!

I studied in Paris for 4 years and in high school we did take
quite a bit of classical french lit. so I did get to read a lot
of particularly Moliere, Hugo, Zola, Mirbeau, Verne and Proust.
However I tend to like more modern\existentialist french lit. Authors include: Sartre, De Beauvoir, Camus, Houellebecq, Sagan

I thought that was funny about myself. I guess I just enjoy having a library as well with real books that contain cover art etc..
