hi to everyone! just recently joined. i'm here to find out what other people read. i love to read and would like to get ideas as to what books i should read also. i saw many interesting titles here.

i read mostly fiction but i'm planning to try reading biographies and other non-fiction types. any suggestions?

Hi, Welcome! I haven't got any good biography suggestions for you. They just aren't my bag. The most recent non-fiction I've read are Confederates in the Attic and Pledged. Confederates was interesting and well written. Pledged was average.

Welcome to TBF :)

In the area of biographies, I would suggest A Child Called 'It' by Dave Pelzer. I have heard nothing but good things about this book.

Welcome to TBF! You have some good taste when it comes to books. In regards to suggestions, check out A Necessary Evil by Garry Wills. It's a few years old, but an excellent read. Here, the coffee is on me.

Welcome Ilusyonada,
I enjoy biographies also, when I read them too infrequently.
The most recent one I have read is Vera by Stacy Shiff, a Pulitzer-Prize winning biography of Vera Nabokov, the wife of the famous author. Though it is specifically a biography of her, not him, it is a facinating story of their life-long love and marriage to each other, in addition to a revealing glimpse of what the life of a famous author is like. I hope it might be to your taste.
Enjoy the forum, :)

Welcome to TBF, ilusyonada. :)

Regarding non-fiction, I recommend A People´s History of the United States: 1492 - Present by Howard Zinn which is a stunning read. Furthermore The Annexation of Mexico: From the Aztecs to the IMF and The War Against Oblivion, both by John Ross.
