any book suggestions?

hi, im sorry if these sorta post annoy you. but i have a LOT of trouble finding books i like. i mean i dont know what to look for, not like a title helps. lol i didnt kno what to expect when i read the cather in the rye. good book.
i like books that are easy to read. lol (not a GReAT reader) i really liked THE GIVER, and da vinci code, and angle and demons (alot those last two took me a long time to read, lost interest half way through it)

any suggestions in books?
im thinking of buying the giver and reading that agian, getting 1984 and f 451

any suggestions are well apperated!

I think these three are a good start. If you like those you could try other books by Bradbury or Orwell.
 
If you are considering 1984 & have said you like easy to read books it might be worth trying out Animal Farm first. (Also by George Orwell)
 
A nice fiction book I read recently was called God's in Alabama, though I can't quite remember the authour. Look it up on Amazon and see if the description is to your liking.
Very easy read, and enjoyable.
 
If you liked The Giver, you might like Gathering Blue by the same author (Lois Lowry). :)
 
My granddaughter loved both Aragon and Eldest by Paolini. They're pretty big books, though.

Have you read To Kill a Mockingbird yet? They should have that one in your library.

How about The Outsiders?

If you liked The Giver, you could try Brave New World by Huxley. It has many of the same themes and it's not too difficult to read. It has that same "utopian" theme where the utopia is maintained by a terrible force. It may be a little harder to read but if you got through Da Vinci Code you should be fine :)
 
I'm not sure how old you are or where you reside, but you said that you have trouble comprehending books; maybe you could go to your nearest Barnes and Noble and look through all their teen books. They have set aside and area just for teens. There you can find many classics and new books. If you ask someone that works there, I'm sure they'll be glad to help you. Have you read any Harry Potter? I've heard those are fun. I plan on reading those soon.

I just did some browsing in the teen section of Barnes and Noble and you could spending hours browsing here.
I see some books I'd pick up and read and I'm 35 :D
 
umm those are GREAT suggestions. imma go to barnes and noble after work tomrrow... by the way im 16 lol sorry i didnt mention that earlyer.

i read animal farm in 9th grade. good book. i heard about to kill a mocking bird. i think the HONORS classes read it last year. i think i might check it out.
i read the harry potter books till the gobet of fire, after i read that it was such a LONG wait (like 3 years or 4) for the next book and i just lost some interest. i might pick it up agian but its a big book, i like reading small onces since i get to the end fast...

i like dan browns books like angles and demons and davinchi code, but those werent such a SURPISE. i seem to expect MORE when i read books. i think imma look up brave new world. THANKS for the suggestions!
 
I second the recommendation of To Kill a Mockingbird. It's a great book and quite small - just what you are looking for. Some classes in our school studied this book, while others studied The Catcher in the Rye, so they should be of the same reading level.
 
I also would recommend "To Kill a Mocking Bird."
Such an easy read; great fun with Scout in her overalls; such emotion, I've just finished it, don't know how I've missed it all these years.

It's a must read and a "classic" that won't give you any pain.
 
Here are a couple of GREAT books, also small and easy reads:
1- The Old Man and the Sea - Earnest Hemmingway
2- Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
They are both immortal classics.
 
There are a lot of personal book lists on the Internet. Try a Google or Yahoo search using your favorite genre as the search term. You are bound to come up with tons of ideas from whatever hits you come up with.

Montana 1948.

This was assigned reading in Grade 12 for me - it's pretty short, but it's also fairly action packed and a page turner as such.
 
How come the majority of people who come in here having difficulty choosing another book to read have usually read, and enjoyed, maybe even 'loved', The Davinci Code and Angels and Demons?

What are you trying to get at? I really don't understand the point you are trying to make. :confused:

I'm sure that there are many people who havn't read Dan Brown or liked his work who also have trouble finding books.

It was just an observation. I deliberately wrote it so that there didn't seem to be a subtext. From memory this quantification appears to be true. Read your own meanings into it but I'm not responsible for them.

Simple. At least once every couple of weeks someone comes along and says something like "I don't know what to read next! I liked X, Y, Z and A - any recommendations?!" It seemed to me that one of Dan Brown's books was always one of those variable books that they said they had recently read and enjoyed. Usually this is someone new to the forum, less than 5 posts, and I've never noticed them to hang around much longer.

I was not commenting just making an observation of forum behaviour. The most obvious reason why this would be so is that Brown's books have sold heaps and have been read by many casual readers who are going to make a post like that.
