What? Is Kay Scarpetta a real person? ;)

I tried to read one of Cornwell's books years ago (Point Of Origin) but didn't get very far with it. I've got a little further with a Kathy Reichs book, althought not that much further. I just didn't like the story from the start, as I recall; whether if it was the writing or Scarpetta didn't interest me. Thinking about it now, I doubt I'd be able to get past that surname.

The early ones are better. The last two were written in a totally different style (e.g. in present tense "literary" rather than the omniscient third person of the earlier books) and just were terrible. It is not a writing style that works for these sorts of books. It lacked a lot of the emotion and immediacy of the earlier ones. I will not read any others. Imho she has really gone downhill.

The only one that I've read from PC was her non fiction book about Jack the Ripper. I imagine that someday I will tackle her other books

No stewie shes not a real person!

Just a lot of cornwells books are based on this character!

And after all we all have different taste in books! :)

I know. Your use of the word "based" threw me as it's not what you would expect when talking about a fictional character. ;)

Sorry i threw you!

Really must explain things better! :)

Her books were good at first but then they became formulaic and plain ridiculous. I don't read her books anymore.

it's being released on the 25th actually. That was a lot of exclamation marks. I've got it on hold at the library. I loved the first few, I have a huge crush on Lucy and I like to fact that Cornwell's a lesbian. However, Blow Fly and Trace have been absolutely horrible. I'll read it, but I'm not all that excited about it.

I read Blowfly [or Trace, can't recall now] at my sisters last year, and I don't think I'll be buying either of them myself in the near future. The Last 'good' one IMO was Black Notice and even that was showing the signs of her writing going down hill.

I have read all her books, and I'll read the new one too. But too be honest, she is getting difficult to read. I don't know if she is getting stale or what, but her last few have not been good. It's the same story with John Grisham and Mary Higgins Clark......seems like they are writing just for the sake of writing.....but I still read them...probably more out of habit and curiosity!

I have read all her books to!

But i think she just gets better!

But we all have different opinions!
