Who all have read the Harry Dresden chronicles by Jim Butcher? This series is strictly fun reading. I'd love it if there are folks here I could talk about the books with.

I've got all the books in the series that have been released so far and love it :D

I just started Book 3

I love this series!!! Great fun. There's a new Novel "Dead Beat" coming out in May. Maybe I'll be caught up by then.

I read Furies of Calderon last year. I'm sorry to say that I didn't care for it all too much, and I love the Dresden files. I did manage to read it cover-to-cover, I'm not sure if I will continue with Academ's Fury or not.

What didnt you like about the new series?

I just didn't get sucked into the story and I didn't get any feeling for the characters. Maybe I set my expections too high because I like the Dresden files so much.

Harry the Wizard

I just finished reading "Death Masks" and enjoyed every minute of it. I was introduced to the Harry Dresden series when a friend gave me "Summer Knight" for Christmas. I tried reading it but just couldn't get into it because there was too much I didn't know. So I hunted until I found the 1st book in the series, read that one and got hooked. I have the first 5 now and will continue to read them as I find them.

I do recommend reading this series in order though...often times I can pick up a book and get the general flavor even if there are preceding books in the series but not this one, I was lost until I started at the beginning...

I haven't read the new series, but I absolutely love the Dresden Files. I've read all of them and they are hilarious and action packed. Hopefully, the series goes on for many more years.

I've recently read Furies of Calderon the first book in his new series. It was quite good :)

I was just reading about Jim Butcher's Dresden files on hear and i've never heard of the books, then i read a few reviews on Amazon.com and it got me really excited so on my lunch break i went to Borders and bought Storm Front, now i can't wait to get off so i can start reading it, ill let you know what i think but it sounds down right awesome from what i've heard.

I've read the first book in the Dresden series, and was surprised by how much I liked it. I mean, I worried that it would be just another piece of "assembly line" genre fiction. But, there were lots of little touches that I thought were clever. And, I thought that the hard-boiled touch was a breath of fresh air.
At any rate, I can tell you that most people must like them, as they are not showing up used anywhere, yet. That's usually a sign that something is worth reading.

I totally agree. I had high hopes for Harry and Murphy and was shocked when she went to hawaii with Kincaid. Isn't Kincaid the exact opposite of who you would think Murph would go for? Hopefully she comes to her senses in further books. I mean, her and Harry fight enough to be married anyways! :D

I just bought the 2nd book in the series Fool Moon and was wondering if it was as good as the first, i am excited to read it but i have a lot of books on my TBR list and was thinking about moving this book up the line since im kind of excited, i think i just need a little enthusiasm from someone else. Thanks

I've got nearly all the books in this series and felt each book got better as they went along, so read on :D

There's a new one due out next year for the series too.
