....belonged to a forum where people fought over stupid and inane things all the time? I left one board due to this and I check back on them from time to time. Guess what they are all still doing?....... These genuises also leave "love" messages to me on my blog. I knew there was a big reason why I love this place, everyone is just so awesome.:) :) :)
so, have ya?

I won't post the url here, but pm and I'll send the url for your enjoyment purposes.:D :D :D :D :D

This place used to be like that but he left . . .:p

I didn't leave. I just took a sabatical!

:D

(hi, novella!)

I think "inane" bickering is inevitable when so many people from such diverse backgrounds and cultures get together. It's part of what makes the "human buffet" so interesting!

Hehe, I know how you feel. I've left boards for a similar reason.

I was flamed openly on a board by one of its moderators - she lost her position of course (the Admin was an okay person) - but my liking for the board and all the people who sided with the bitchy moderator had severely declined.

All this happened because of one single person who had spread lies about me to that mod. I can't really blame that mod, because she honestly believed the dude's lies. It was all so bad that I honestly wished the guy dead.

He died about 6 months later - I mentally cheered, because he really was an arse, he cost me a really nice friendship and much stress and strife.

There, that was it, you may all berate me now.

I was a member of a board that ended up banning me. Why? Basically because they didn't like me for me. They didn't like how I talk and certain words I use. Found me childish for saying Ocky and ni ni. But someone else who was banned for threatening bodily harm upon members of the board has now (or so it appears) been unbanned. While I, who just was myself, still remains banned. There's more drama to it, too, but I won't bore you guys to pieces over it!

HAHA I was once banned from click here

I hope that still looks like a quote - I don't think I've read anything so horrible and mean in a long time! You cheered because someone died? That's awful! As someone in medicine, I find that appalling that anyone could cheer about another's death when it was only words that were his crime. If he'd physically hurt you or someone you loved I'd actually understand but this...

Maybe they just didn't like the colour of your text;)

That may be so. The hurt was not so much mine - I mainly got annoyed and angry, no the hurt party was the Moderator who found it appropriate to flame me. His lies had hurt her so bad that she was on the brink of suicide - she blamed me because of his lies, but she didn't know any better.

I'm not gonna ask you to understand - I know you won't - I'm not even gonna bother explaining. Yes, it's horrible and mean - I'm a horrible and mean person - some would even say I'm evil.

I'm still living with the regrets about having prevented someone else from killing himself. I never should have helped that guy, he ended up stalking me and driving *me* to the brink of suicide. This happened before the previously mentioned incident. I'll admit my view of the world has been hardened a lot through some of the things I've been through, but that's who I've ended up being; a cynical git.

Forgive me if I'm being naive, but surely if the situation gets anywhere near as bad as this you should just leave the board in question and never go back. The whole thing sounds very worrying.

That's what I did. I left.

The other situation that drove *me* to the brink of suicide wasn't an online episode - it was in real life and it was a guy from my school. Then it suddenly becomes much harder to walk away from.

But the original situation I mentioned *was* online. I didn't even get the news of Rasmus' death till a month after it had happened. It was coincidence that I was talking to someone who knew and happened to mention it in passing - he thought I'd already heard, but I hadn't. At first I was shocked because normally I don't expect people to fall over dead no matter how much I wish it. Turns out he had a weak heart and his impending death had been heralded yeard before. Not that that gives him the right to behave like an arse to that poor girl who got so upset she went totally out of her mind.

I feel truly sorry for these situations you have encountered but this thread has suddenly taken a depressing turn. Perhaps we should lighten it up and change tack.

I understand that one entirely. I was a member of a board for over a year, then I started modding at another board and members of the formerly mentioned board began to break the rules intentionally to see if anything would happen. After it did, they would hound me on the original board and I was eventually banned since one rule breaker got banned at the newer(modded by me) site.  I got a bullet in the mail anonymously and they photo-chopped a few pics of me. They stopped after a friend of mine captured their images and replied in kind.:D :D :D The funny thing?, sometimes I think I miss that board, but then I see the crap they still pull(i.e.-FOGs picking on newbies) and I just feel repulsed by their meager existance by the minute.

Sorry. I tend to lean towards the blacker moods generally - I'll leave y'all to it.

Speaking as an Admin I've only made one questionable banning... and the decision was not mine alone so thankfully I can rest in the knowledge that others agreed with me. Other than that I generally make a point of not banning people no matter how much I dislike them. Sadly the forum I Admin has no rules against being a moron :p But that's probably for th best or it would get very lonely very quick lol

naw, I don't believe that. I see that you are reading Edward Rutherfurd so I, for one, think that you have good taste. :)

I joined a board a few months ago because in order to download certain files from the website you had to have at least 30 posts, I think it was. The bad thing about this board was that they were doing the cliched character-bashing from Yu-Gi-Oh of the leading female. Good grief, will these Anzu-bashers please come up with some originality for a change? Anyway I think I was banned for a period of time because my pro-Anzu signature banner was too big! :D Eventually I received an e-mail saying that my account would be terminated for inactivity or some such business. I didn't care really because the files I was wanting to download were not there after all.

Other places I just seem to lose interest or forget about them. A lot of times at this Final Fantasy forum I help to moderate, the members have so-called discussions on topics that bore me to tears and it's all I can do to keep coming back to the place.

It's fun to berate the noobish members at this one anime community that I visit on a regular basis. Ok, I am usually a nice person but there's only so much net-speak that I can take, and the same goes for proclamations about how "hawt" someone is, animated or real.

My taste has nothing to do with my mood. They're two very different and completely seperate things. I study literature - I can usually seperate good from bad, but from there to also magically be in a good mood... ehm, dunoo how you imagine that would happen. Not that it matters.

Anyways, to stay on topic. I feel an irrepressible need to berate one of the newer members of the forum I admin. Instead of posting on the forum he simply PMed me, and I have never seen so many spelling errors in three lines of text. He was apparently writing a story he wanted to get published and wanted to ask if I would proof-read for him. I asked him what made him ask me and who the devil he is anyway. He apparently attends university at Richmond, I think he said, and he said it seemed like I had some talent - yes, that is his wording - as if he'd be able to judge.

He attends university and cannot spell write. In his words he's trying to wright a story. Well good luck with that, bub, you're gonna need it

Anyways, it's this story about the child of two characters from a published author's books. There are many things wrong with that, here's a few: 1. Those two characters do not have a child. 2. Both are copy-righted characters, which I've pointed out to him several times now, but he ignores it. 3. He can't spell to save his life. 4. One of the copy-righted characters is even grossly Out Of Character.

I said to him I'd like to see a sample of his writing before I said yes to anything. So he sent me a sample. An unedited one, that is. I told him off for wasting my time with stuff he himself has not taken the time to edit yet, but I did go over the story, and it was utter crap, which I told him. He has yet to take my pointers seriously, I think. He says he's getting it published with some friends, which leads me to think that those friends are so bad a Vanity Publisher that they haven't even told him to lay off copy-righted material.

It's a shame I'm not allowed to ban people for being stupid. What I *will* do though is keep an eye on all the names he gave me and if anything happens in the way of publishing a book I *will* be notifying the copy-right holders. Simply because it'd be so satisfying to see him learn his lesson.

I never berate newbies at a forum, I only berate people if they behave like morons - like for instance the dude from the above little story. My toes are still curled up because of the absolute horrid writings he sent me. I don't think I've ever read anything as dreadful lol
