Carrie sequel?

I just finished reading Stephen Kings CARRIE. I was surprised to find at the end of the book was a set up to a sequel, I think. It was a letter from a woman named Amelia Jenks in Tenn. writing to her sister, Amelia. She tells her about her daughter Annie, who has TK. Does anybody think that King should write a sequel to Carrie, the book of course, not the movie?

I do not think he will write a sequel b/c he has stated that he will not write the (planned) sequel to 'Salems Lot as too much time has passed. Carrie was written before 'Salems Lot so I would guess that the same reasoning would apply. Plus he is pushing through his Dark Tower series and fighting a degenerative eye disease, so I would really be suprised. PLUS...The movie sequel sucked.

Yes, the movie sequel did suck. But I would imagine a written sequel to completely disregard The Rage: Carrie 2. It would stem off the events in the novel, not the Sissy Spacek film.
I realize that this probably wont happen but theres no harm is thinking about it.:)

He's supposed to be retiring soon anyway... According to his official web site (http://www.stephenking.com), he plans to finish the Dark Towers series first but nothing is said about a Carrie's sequel!

I doubt he would ever write a sequel to Carrie. First of all he seems pretty obsessed with avoiding to repeat himself so I don't think he would write another book about telekinesis.

I believe he chose this particular ending to Carrie to show that she was not an isolated phenomenon, an open ending to let the reader imagine what the world would be with lots of people like Carrie in it...

I do not think he will write a sequel. This story is finished and the chapter of his life closed.
