g'day..

glad to have found this site.. seems like coming home.. :) it's good to see so much going on in the scifi/fantasy section!

Hi, zen. I'm right there with you on the P.D. James mysteries. I also agree with you about Patricia Cornwell. I read some of her first books, but haven't bothered with the rest.

thankyou!

angerball - it's just beautiful! this old home country that is.. now if the majority of Australians could only vote Howard out........ :D

hello Peronel.. good to see another aussie.. :)

but i must keep my political idea to myself it seems, i have seen elsewhere it is not encouraged here. sorry for that!

I belonged to a wonderful forum where we were all doing just fine until we started saying things like: "Well if you idiots actually voted for ____________, you must have at least several screws loose." And: "All of you __________s obviously have your heads ___________." And: "It's all the fault of you _________s that we're ___________."

And so forth.

You can imagine that things can fall apart pretty quickly when that kind of thing starts, and soon politics were the only thing that we were talking about. (Quite frankly, we __________s turned out to be the brighter and more eloquently vociferous of the bunch so we finally ended up by driving all the __________s clean off.)

Now there are only about a half dozen of us hard line ___________ s left there, and we're reduced to just nodding our heads in unison and saying "You betchum, Red Ryder" and so forth, and otherwise doing what is commonly known as 'preaching to the choir.' :(

Believe me, we do not want that to happen around here.

And I'm only guessing. That may not be the reason why we're discouraged from talking politics around here. :) It could be some other, better reason entirely. ;) :D
