No, not Jeff Beck.

This fellow has been described as a musical chameleon, hopping from one genre to another. An ex-colleague introduced him to me, and he was a person dead-afraid of routine. So Beck's many-layered debut album was his tonic, and he has recommended him to me.

My first album from him was Midnight Vultures, and it was in his techno/disco album. Very surreal, but he has one song in that album that literally hypnotized me, called Beautiful Way. You probably have heard of that song before - the chorus was included in the early version of Microsoft's Media Player as a teaser.

Anyway, I brought him up because I bought his latest (with my Franz Ferdinand) album called Guero. His early songs were great, but faded towards the end.

Has anyone even heard of this chap?

What's up, ds? I've been a stranger lately, I know! My wife is just about the biggest BECK fanatic in the universe. I liked GUERO the first couple hundred times I heard it, but c'mon already! The funny thing is that it's all my fault because I bought the Mellow Gold CD back when "Loser" was popular and then Odelay as well.

Hey there SS... how is it going?

Well, I've not reached the level your wife has with Guero, as the last few tracks aren't really that good with me yet. Maybe a couple hundred listens will change that.

That does Olelay album look good...

Hey there, ds. I love Beck. He's very funny, plus has a great talent for sampling and mixing something new out of the familiar and funky. I bought Mellow Gold way back when his mixology wasn't really fully developed. I have Odelay and Midnight Vultures (great dance tunes), but not Guero. Now that I think of it, maybe I should pick it up. Beck's always lookinig for a new sound and his lyrics are cutting--two great things in a pop stylist.

I reallly like Beck, I think he brings something different to the table every time he makes an album.

One song of his that I love is from the "Eternal Sunshine..." soundtrack (I don't know if he did the song for the movie or it was pulled from one of his albums). It's called 'Everybody's gotta learn sometimes'. Very pretty.

I also like "Loser" (who doesn't?), "Sexxlaws", and "Mixed Business".

Blow by blow.... sounds dirty.

I'm crap with matching songs to creators. Is the Everybodies Got to Learn Sometimes, the duu duu duuuuuuu, everybodies gotta leeaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrn... sometimes.... duu duuuu dummmmmmmmmm???

I frown upon your excessive use of smileys. FROWN!

I approve of the spelling of Jeff. That is enough for now.

If we are not careful we'll be accused of spamming up this fine thread.

Horror to think of such a thing. Horror I say.

People 'round here have been known to call it "inane" on occasion....but I won't name any names....

Rubbish.

One word answers and spam have always been the key to being a thoroughly respected member of TBF.

Where have you been the last 6 months?

Spam has become the dirty word of TBF.

Caused more than a few to find other playgrounds.

Really.

Bollocks.

Spam is the backbone of TBF. Like it or lump it. The forum caters to the lowest common denominator.
