Nightwish

Has anyone heard of this band? They are from Finland and they're one of my very favorite bands. They play symphonic metal, which is metal with classical instruments mixed in, and their lead singer is an opera singer.
Nightwish more famous in Europe than in America, although I'm not really sure how famous they are...but they are a good band and it's a shame no one seems to have heard of them!

I am very fond of Nightwish. I have all the albums that have been released except for the one of greatest hits. I like how their songs have references to several of their other songs. Also it's nice to see the Disney obsession in some of their lyrics. If you doubt that, I am willing to debate the point with you.

It's sad to see Tarja leaving the band, but as long as her replacement can sing fairly well it will be okay with me.

They're OK... I won't switch off the radio when they're on and I wouldn't mind watching them at a festival, but I wouldn't invest money in it either, CD- or concertwise.

I have their album Once. I liked the songs Dark Chest of Wonders and Nemo, but after a while their sound just became so tiring. I'm debating whether to keep the album or get rid of it; some songs are really good but I rarely listen to it.

Why not save the couple songs you like to the computer and eventually copy them to a CD along with a few other songs that you like. Just a "probably dumb" suggestion. :)

I agree. ^-^

I own all the Nightwish CDs. I am very sad that the lead singer is leaving the band, but I was under the impression it was not her choice. Hopefully she will find somewhere else to go and continue entertaining the masses.

If you go to the Nightwish home page and look for the news entry marked with the date "22.10.2005" and click the bolded "here" you can read the letter the band gave her, stating their reasons.

Sorry for the double post. Is there any way I can get rid of that?

And yeah, I'll probably just save the "good songs" on my computer. I'll give the CD one last try beforehand.

You can get rid of that post easy. Private message Halo, the senior editor, and she will delete it for you. I doubled a thread not too long ago, and she deleted it for me.

I love Nightwish! (Thanks to Valkyrie for introducing them to me) I want more of their CDs but I can't find them here in the U.S. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks.

Nick, my dear, I keep telling you to try Amazon.com. If you buy over $20 of merchandise, they ship free.
(BTW, if you buy their CD's, get the ones I don't have!)

Kat, I keep forgetting about Amazon. Sorry! Anyway, I saw Once at Best Buy last night. That suprised me. Maybe they are more popular here than I thought.

Angels Fall First, Oceanborn, Wishmaster, and Over the Hills and Far Away. Then I have Once and Century Child. There are also singles, but they just have songs on them that are already on the normal CD's, although the "I Wish I Had An Angel" single has a song that wasn't on the CD's. It was kinda bad though.
