How Many Languages Do You Know and Use?

Besides English I speak Spanish and I can communicate (basics) in ASL- American Sign Langage. That's the language of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.

What language(s) other than English do you speak?
 
I can speak Spanish, not fluently but you could get a conversation out of me, I know a few French phrases but that's about it :rolleyes:

I was in Miami for a couple of days last year, to me it seems that learning to speak Spanish is a necessity to live there.

I speak Spanish and know common phrases in German, French and Italian. I am currently working on my Italian.
 
I'm trilingual: English, Spanish, Gujrati.
I'm still only learning Spanish, but I can communicate well enough in the past and present tenses.
I can speak and understand Gujrati, but can't read or write at all.
 
Took two years of spanish in junior high and that was it. Learning another language isn't something that's pushed here in the states as the attitude seems to be-if it was good enough for George Washington, then it's good enough for me(apologies to an Old Time religion song.;) ) I can read spanish fairly well. I subscribed to a political magazine that was english on the front and then had the same stories on the back in spanish. I was able to read the english ones first and pick up key words that way. I would do that with other languages, but those kind of publications are hard to find.
 
I'm fluent in French, and speak a little German. I did start to learn some Italian before I left England, but I've decided that Spanish would be more useful here in the US, so I plan on taking that up soon.
 
I could probably get by in basic French, though I think I understand spoken French and read it better than I speak it.
 
I can only speak English and small amounts of Maori. I did take Japanese and French for two years at high school, but I dropped them (something which I regret now). I would love to be able to speak Hebrew, French and Latin.
 
I, like MC, only speak English, with a smattering of Maori. I learnt French for two years at high school to very little avail. I also know some sign language, as my daughter did not speak until about 9.
 
I speak American, so as not to offend the British, and broken Italian. I can also can barely communicate in French when I visit Paris. For example: Oo ay la gar San Lazar?

I can also speak a little bit of Arabic: A habeck ana habibi. Kev il haal? And last, but not least, I speak StatenIslandese, which is similar to Brooklynese but just a tad lighter. :D
 
I keep thinking I can speak spanish, but the poor victims of my misapprehension just keep smiling and jollying me along. The thing is that my accent is fabulous and I sound like a native speaker to start -- but then -- zounds! A question is asked of me. Mas despacio, por favor! Esa palabra ...??!:p
 
I speak Spanish, my mothertongue. Si, lo que oye, hablo español:D, and English, which is my second language.
 
Hmm... I speak Cantonese, Malay, Mandarin (but you'd laugh hard), a little Teochew (you'd laugh harder). Actually, I don't know if it's considered cheating, as Cantonese and Teochew are dialects of the Chinese language, while Mandarin is the de facto language of the Chinese.

To my eternal regret, I cannot read Chinese, and all the characters I know can be written in two lines on an A4 ruled paper.

I used to write pretty damn well in Bahasa Melayu (Malay). I'd be impressed with myself if I could find my old Bahasa Melayu composition exercise books.

And I speak English well enough for people to misunderstand me.

DS, your English is excellent. Any misunderstandings would be purely on the part of the reader. :)
