Summer library sales

Every summer, a good library half an hour from me has a booksale where they raise money to buy new books, as well as clearing the shelves of older, but still useful books. I'm really pumped about the sale as it will occur from July7th-9th. I can't wait.......it's bad to drool over books I know, but you would too.

Do you guys attend similar library sales campaigns?

yep...the town I work in has one twice a year....I have a special tote bag I use just for it:D

I so LOVE the book sales. I purposly don't buy brandnew books just for this time of year.

Don't even mention Library book sales! :D We all -- Daddy, Mommy and four children -- would go to the book sales and each bring home a tall stack or two of books. That sure changed the look of the house in a hurry
But nice, :)

Think of all those books as an alternative source of insulation for your home..Just think, we can add R value to our homes AND increase our reading resources at the same time:D

We have a Friends of the Library Sale every Third Friday and Saturday of the month. /long satisfied sigh/ :D
But we've only found two Nabokov there......no make that three. But its still pretty good. :p

I have approx. 200 books that I am going to take to the library and donate for their sales. All of them are in very good condition.

Our local library has one sometimes twice a year. I usually go and buy a stack. The prices for everything is 25 cents, but you can buy 5 books for $1. I bought three Harry Potter books at the library sale. My mom works at the library so I will go with her ahead of time to scope out what books that are going to be selling so then I know what to look for once I go to the sale.

Twice!!?? I'm already planning to blow about $200 on books in July, if this event near my town occured twice a year, the wife would have to steal the checkbook and hide it.:D

There is a library sale tomorrow and depending on my obligations i think i shall go!

I can't wait for the month to be done. I have July 7th marked on the calendar and I might even have to call in to work. I won't call in, but I really want to be amongst the "early" crowd to my library sale. What did you pick up?

Jealous-much!!

Our local library is very small and contains the oddest assortment of books ever. If you're a fan of Australian history and trashy romance, by all means come on down. They don't have sales, there's just a trolley of books (all about 50 cents) that they fill all year round. Of course, it's all trashy romance and Australian history (and sometimes a loose volume of an encyclopedia set).

I believe a lot of libraries are now sending old books overseas to be used in the schools of developing countries.

Most of the libraries in my area have a secondhand bookstore that is open everyday during library hours. In addition to books cleared from the shelves, they have thousands of books donated by people from around the area. Usually three or four times a year they will have huge book sales, slashing down prices and opening up their entire stock to the public, which must add up to about ten thousand books. :D

My local library prices sale books so cheap, i end up buying books i wouldn't normally buy. I've found some real gems for next to nothing even if they are a little tatty.

The libraries where I live aren't having anymore booksales. They had one this week (which I walked away from with litterally five bags full of books) but they warned us that they weren't going to do it again. Talk about horrible things to hear.

My library doesn't have a special booksale. At least, not that I know of. They do have a small section of donated books that range from twenty-five cents to one dollar. Most of the books are in poor condition, so it's rare that I pick up anything from there.

Our town has citywide garage sales coming up in June, and our library always has a huge sale during that time. I have several big boxes of books to donate this year...I'll try to be careful what I bring home from that sale, but dollars to donuts, the Abc kids will try to snag one I culled due to lack of interest at home:whistling:

My town's library used to have big book sales every six months, but they no longer do that now. It's been reduced to a bookshelf by the door when you come in with a donation box. I never see any good selections since they've been doing that method. Always picked clean before I arrive, I suppose. Or maybe the library decided it wanted rid of all its lame selections and keep the good stuff.
