Batman is a superhero. To me a hero is my grandfather who was the ultimate gentleman, was admired by everyone that met him, and worked hard to improve the lives of the elderly in his community.

Now on Spidey. His strength can be measured in tons, so saying he isn't strong is not based on Marvel stats. One on one without gadgets Batty just wouldn't have a chance. I would even go so far as to say an unprepared Batman wandering the streets with his normal outfit would do better, but would still not win. However, with his amazing ability to adapt that Spiderman just doesn't have, he would win if he had time to prepare. If he new he was going up against Spiderman he would undoubtedly wear strength multiplying armor (think Iron Man) with pores that would slowly ooze web dissolving goo and make him too slippery to grab. If the Hulk can take Spidey, then a prep'd Batman could too.

I remember an episode of Spiderman drawn and written by Eric Larsen where Spidey takes on Doc Oc and decides that he needs more fire power. His solution is a container on his back with two metal hoses running to the tops of his hands where there are web guns. The idea being that he could shoot a whole lot of webbing at once. Doc Oc just reached around and tore open the container. End of that idea. Adaptability just isn't his strong point.

I think WonderWoman would have fallen into that category. She had no super powers but Lynda Carter certainly had the unearthly ability to make things grow. :D

To be a Superhero (by my definition) you have to
a) do heroic stuff ie saving peolple and making the world a better place to live.
b) have powers (from birth or obtained by some freak accident etc) or gifts that exceeds the normal human
Batman is by that definition a superhero. He may not have so called superpowers, but he's totally beyond human...
Some says there's a great difference between mutants and superheroes... I have trouble seeing that difference...

My friend and I were having an argument...
To be a Super Hero/villain is it required that you have Super Powers. I say no. I mean look at Batman, Joker, and Doctor Octopus. Just because they don't have powers, only means they arn't mede-humans (i asked my bio teacher and thats what he said).
Pls post your opinions.
I totally agree with you. Actually, I prefer superheros like Batman over Superman. Spider-man has superpowers, but his excuse is more plausible than Superman's. Batman is the best, though, because he studied jujitsu and other things to get where he is. ^^ Discipline is good.

Okay, I've just got to get some things said before I pop!! LOL!
Firstly, a superhero, by my own thinking, could be defined as anyone who either has superpowers, or has defeated someone with superpowers. Hence, Batman, Iron-Man, or the Punisher would all qualify.

Now, as to this Batman/Spider-man debate....
Have any of you (I say the "you" in a peaceful tone) ever read Spider-Man? First of all, Spidey can lift up to 10 tons..TONS!! Batman couldn't lift even one! Spidey can dodge bullets at point blank range, and has fought and won against other powerhouses like The Hulk, Superman (in a Marvel/DC crossover), Wolverine, and once, THE ENTIRE X-MEN!!!!!!!!

Plus, he has a Spider-sense, which alerts him to danger...OH, and has anyone forgotten that he made those webshooters when he was only a teen!! The guy's a GENIUS right up there on the level with Bruce Wayne...in fact, I just read in one comic where Reed Richards (of Fantastic Four fame) said he was jealous of Spidey's intelligence, as he'd invented something as a teen, that Reed couldn't figure out!!!

And, as for those red and blue spandies...just remember the black costume.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bats...and the whole Gotham thing. But could he whup Spidey...not easily. There'd plenty o' bruisin' goin' on!!!
