Let's meet up (online)

Oh, sounds like fun - my accent means that what I say may require a bit of interpretation, though! So have we decided on whether it's going to be Yahoo or Skpyecast?

I guess you haven't had much contact with webcams SIL ;) :p

Damn. Here I was all accurately predicting the future when it had already happened. Figures.

I just wonder if Halo will let me have her signature line any time in the next two thousand years.

When's your birthday? Maybe I could let you use it then. *Hopes that Still's birthday has already gone for this year.*

Sorry I wasn't around earlier.

I just got online to tell you guys that due to some unforeseen circumstances, I may not be able to host the chitchat this Fri/Sat.

I'll see if I can host a proper one next time.

Don't worry DS, you go do what you have to, we'll meet another time :) .
Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated, Gem. :)

Okay, let's get the time right first.

I propose Friday, Aug 11 2006 at 1400 to 1600 GMT/UTC. To see what that is in your time, go to The World Clock - Time Zone Converter, leave the time in the first selection as UTC time above, and then select your timezone.

I used the Meeting Planner function in the same website to see roughly at what time it will be for some of you (we are scattered all over Earth, after all), and this is what it looks like:

As you can see, the meeting will be at 10 to midnight for me in KL.

I will also have some trial runs some days leading to THE DAY. Those who wish to join me to test out the technical arrangements can either message me in Yahoo (my nick: donyc) or Skype (username: donny.yap).

ds

ps. Abecedarian - it will be late morning for you, I believe. This timing better?

Yay. This will give me time to get on over to Radioshack, and 7:00 AM works just fine for me. :) If it's midnight in Sydney, I think that means it's 7:00 AM in California?

7am would be correct Still. :)

Guys, unfortunately, Yahoo has closed off the ability to create a room in Yahoo Chat.

We will have to use Skype, but bear in mind that we can use the chat function within Skype anyway.

I'll post more info as I get them.

Btw, just a side update: Yahoo! and MSN (Live) Messengers can now talk to each other.

ds

So on Friday it'll be about 4/5pm for me - that should be okay although I may be a bit late if i'm needed at the office.

On a sidenote, SIL - don't ever set your skype option as 'skype me' - i was testing it and I got inundated by strange people wanting strange things...

I'm laughing, Gem! One doesn't usually reach my stage in life without almost everything imaginable having happened to one at least once, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to be skyped. Especially if I may have been skyped in the past and later (and probably with great difficulty) disremembered it. That's to say if it ever happened at all. Whatever it is.

Thanks for the warning. :D I certainly won't go there.

SIL,
but I'm pretty sure I don't want to be skyped

The 'syke me' bit should have given it away, but genius that I am I didn't see the connotation until it was too late :D .

Pink Shadow, give it try, if you can't do the talking bit, there is still a typing chat bit, if that makes sense :D .

OK, maybe I'm just being stupid, but please clear this up for me. The time zone converter says: "UTC = Coordinated Universal Time - the international basis for other time zones. Same time as for GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)" and then it says that Sweden is 2 hours ahead of UTC. But Sweden is only one hour ahead of GMT, so which one is it?
