Can we perhaps remove all the forums to do with books and just have several areas for quotations? It would be really good.

We could have a forum for quotes about love, war, God, effort, and all that stuff. Then a section of General Quote discussion and perhaps one for 'Quote Search' so people who sort of remember a quote from years ago but can't remember it in its entirety can ask about it.

Perhaps a Shakespeare Quotations subform and a section for movie quotes? Oh, and a quote of the month discussion group. mehastings could organise it.

Let me know what you think.

I'm sure it's been said thousands, if not millions of times before. ;)

A million monkey typing on a million typewriters......

Most of the joking aside, I think your point is well made... although, I've been known to quote random poems and lyrics in threads.

A quote section would be quite nice. The Nabokov one would have 50,000 entries, all subsequent ones about 10.:D

I like the idea, but I think we should just experiment with a subforum first. I'd like to see a bunch of quotes by random people make it on the board. It is so hard to find good quotes on wikiquote nowadays.

I think Thoreau's thread will have more than 10. In fact, I'd personally see to it.

Personally, I'd love to discuss the artistic merits of:

"There are mother#$%$ing snakes on this mother#$%$ing plane."

hmm. I've not heard that one. Is that a Doug Johnson quote?

No, but I do hope that someday I can write something that as many people talk about as "There are mother#$%$ing snakes on this mother#$%$ing plane."

I'm having a bit of trouble getting my tongue round the #$%$ing bit of that quote - any helpful suggestions would be welcome;)
