Eragon

I've seen a trailer for it now. Looks like it's out in the UK in December, just in time for Christmas. The trailer looked good but having just read the book I think I'll wait till it's on sky or TV.

I cannot wait to see this movie. I have not read it myself but have heard good things about the book from my friend. The movie sounds good to me. I hope to read the book soon as well.

Alrighty, here's the official FrodoLIVES review.
I think I was understandably nervous when I came into the theatre and saw hoards of 5-8 year old kids. I was even more nervous when the previews came up. Let's see...what were they? Evan Almighty, Meet the Robinsons, and Teenaje Mutant Ninja Turtles  Apparently, this was not the new version of Lord of the Rings/Narnia/Harry Potter that I had been waiting for for months.
Then the movie started. I was swept up in the beauty of the work, and soon enough able to forget about the gaggle of 5 year olds whispering and giggling next to me.
You could hear the collective sighs in the room as the audience watched Saphira hatching from her egg. Every scene that included Saphira was one that the audience was sure to like. And the mind-communication didn't actually impair the movie that much. It was understandable and went along with the story.
But, could some argue that this was just a movie made to show off the graphic design team's skills? Did the story come in second place? I believe that yes, unfortunately the story did not rate with Saphira's beauty. While it was a moving picture with a likeable plot, it wasn't an Oscar winner. But it was great entertainment and I actually plan to see it again to catch the details I missed.
The worst part of the movie were simply the things they simplified and took away to make the movie fit the length of the attention span of a small child. Most noticeably, the fact that Saphira matures from infant to adult in a split second. Magic? I didn't quite follow.
Brom and Eragon seemed to have a deeper relationship in the book than in the movie but this is probably just because of the time problem.
The best part about the movie were the back-up characters. Murtagh was simply excellent as a son having to deal with
the crimes of the father
along with Brom, hardened teacher of the hero.
Overall: Go see it! You may be a little confused if you didn't read the book, but it's worth the money and is very entertaining and will leave you eager for the next installment.
