Secret Santa 06?

I think people liked it, so if you guys want to do it again, I'll organize it. If you're interested, please make a post here and PM me. If you can't ship overseas please include that in your PM.

Also, no member should hesitate to join in because they don't have a lot of loot. Last year I sent homemade magnets and some locally made candy. Whole thing cost less than the shipping.
 
We had a great time last year with it.

2005 TBF Secret Santa

We had a "real" gift and "virtual" gift categories. The former was where you bought a card or book that featured an author a person liked. Virtual gifts were exactly that-cards, perhaps a creative avatar or something like that. Perhaps we could have the "real" gifters have people on their own continents so as to reduce cost, though in shipping books to England, I've found the rate to be very minimal.

Count me in.:) This kind of thing is really fun folks. Way to step up to the plate on this mehastings.
 
Can I join in please - sounds like a fab idea, I read last year's thread and it just sounds like such a wonderful thing to do! I hope by reading all the things that you have had to say about all the books that you read that I would be able to think of a suitable present for one of you!

That is just awful. I think we'll have to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. I wonder if it was a "newer" member who had you. I know the person I sent a gift to didn't last much longer than the holidays!

If I remember correctly, someone from a country that Borat would be from had her name. The person got their gift but never delivered for some reason. We'll take care of it. I know a long-standing, cigar smoking member who is a sure bet on secret santa mailings. He might even be able to make it past the grain bins and overpass in a sleepy Kansas town on his way to smoke cigars with his awesome brother in law.:cool:

Is there a date by when we have to say "yay" or "nay." I really want to do this, but I want to make sure I have some $$ to buy a present ;)
And I'm new, but don't worry. I can honestly say I'm not someone to skimp on my promises.
 
We started last year's SS on the 6th of december. I don't see why we couldn't start giving out info on the 10th and let people mail or "virtual" gift their gifts at that time.

I think actually that I'd like to see this occur earlier than that. The 10th really allows only two weeks, which isn't a lot of time if you are mailing overseas. I know I said "whenever" before, but I think I'd like to end this on the 1st of December. Names to go out shortly thereafter. Also, you MUST PM me if you are interested.

Lastly, I've only had one person interested in "virtual" gifting (and that person was also interested in mailing something). So, no virtual category this year. As I mentioned before, you don't need to spend a lot of $ and I will try to make sure the people who are shipping overseas are those that are willing to do so.
 
Alrighty then, no virtual gifts! Just confused about one thing...are we going to just ship to people within our own country or can we pair up with someone from another???:confused: :confused:

Some folks will have to ship out of their own country (especially those who are the only ones in their countries, like MC). However, if you can't swing it just let me know. I should be able to honor that.
 
I can post overseas if you need me to I suppose, it will be more of a challenge to find something cool which does not weigh much to save me precious pennies!

Alright folks, everyone has their assignments. If you asked to ship locally, you are doing so. If you are shipping overseas be sure to ask your post office what the travel time is so you can mail far enough in advance. I hope everyone has fun and be sure to PM (or post here) a Thank You when you receive your gift!
