Does anyone else get entirely annoyed at the new bands and their twenty word song titles? I hate them. They make me want to scream!

Here are some examples

The Only Difference Between Matryrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage-Panic! At the Disco
London Beckoned Songs About Money Written by Machines-Panic! At the Disco
Lying is the Most Fun a Girl can have without Taking Her Clothes Off-Panic! At the Disco
Jesus of Suburbia/City of the Damned/I don't Care/Dearly Beloved/Tales of Another Broken Home-Green Day
Homecoming/The Death of St. Jimmy/East 12th Street/Nobody Likes You/Rock and Roll Girlfriend/We're Coming Home Again-Green Day
Our Lawyer Made us Change the Name of this Song so we wouldn't Get Sued-Fall Out Boy
I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea that You should Shut Your Mouth-Fall Out Boy
I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy, and All I got was this Stupid Song Written About Me-Fall Out Boy
Tell that Mick He just Made My List of Things to do Today-Fall Out Boy
You Know what they do to Guys like Us in Prison-My Chemical Romance
It's Not a Fashion Statement, It's a F***ing Deathwish-My Chemical Romance

If you have any others, post them here.

The Artic Monkeys - 'You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Looking Straight At Me' (off 'Whatever People Say I Am, Thats What I'm Not', if that isnt a hint of whats to come  )

The Smiths - 'Strangeways Here We Come' include

'A Rush And A Push And The Land Is Ours'
'I Started Something I Couldn't Finish'
'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before'
'Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me'

Funeral For A Friend - Casually Dressed & Deep In Converation (once again  )

'Bend Your Arms To Look Like Wings'
'She Drove Me To Daytime Television'

I still say the ultimate one is "Long Song Titles Aren't Cool Anymore Because the Rest of You Fuckers Are No Good at It" by Crime In Stereo.

Those actually aren't that bad ;)

All good ones so far.

I have no idea who this song is by but I remember seeing it on Give Us A Clue years and years ago (ropey old British TV show where camp has-been celebs had to act out movie/book/song titles etc, ie charades on telly)

"How Can You Believe Me When I Say That I Love You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life?"

And who could forget the look on Una Stubb's face as Lionel Blair desperately tried to pull off Twelve Angry Men in under two minutes?

The "song" that comes to mind for me is A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultra World (Loving U) by The Orb.

Couple More:

"The Traditional Folk Singer's Lament For The Passing Of The Traditional Three-Chord Folk Song (Do You Know Any Dylan?)" - Eric Bogle
"I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Anymore" - Pet Shop Boys
"There's A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears He's Elvis" - Kirsty MacColl
"Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict" - Pink Floyd

And, as with so many things in this world, The Flaming Lips take the cake with "What Is the Light? (An untested theory hypothesis suggesting that the chemical [in our brains] by which we are able to experience the sensation of being in love is the same chemical that caused the "Big Bang" that was the birth of the accelerating universe)"

These aren't as long as some of the others listed, but Morrissey does like a fairly long song title. Don'tGoAway mentioned a few, but here are some more:

My Life is a Succession of People Saying Goodbye
How Can Anybody Possibly Know How I Feel?
The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get
Such a Little Thing Makes Such a Big Difference
The Last of the Famous International Playboys
We Hate it When our Friends Become Successful
There's a Place in Hell for Me and My Friends
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want

I love that title!

Oasis - Who Put The Wait Of The World On My Shoulders? (even shortened its bad, 'WPTWOTWOMS?')
It's even longer when you use the appropriate 'weight' instead of 'wait' :p

try anything by sujan stevens.

A Conjunction Of Drones Simulating The Way In Which Sufjan Stevens Has An Existential Crisis In The Great Godfrey Maze - the song is only 19 seconds long

or

Riffs And Variations On A Single Note For Jelly Roll, Earl Hines, Louis Armstrong, Baby Dodds, And The King of Swing, To Name A Few - only 49 seconds long.

almost all of his titles are like that.

Type O Negative aren't exactly strangers to lengthy song titles:

The Misinterpretations of Silence and its Disastrous Consequences

Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity

The Glorious Revolution of the People's Technocratic Republic of Vinnland By the Combined Forces of the United Territories of Europa

I particularly recommend the first track ;).

Not a song but an album title (and not even that lengthy really, either): Shivaree's I Oughtta Give You a Shot in the Head for Making Me Live in this Dump.

Aphex Twin's EP that enclosed To Cure A Weakling Child was titled An image of children chasing after an ice-cream van from an Orange TV commercial advertising Text Messaging.

Lawnmower Deth, late 80s/early 90s comedy thrash band were fond of lengthy titles such as Spook Perv Happenings In The Snooker Hall, Return Of The Fabulous Metal Bozo Clowns, and Return Of The Flying Killer Cobbs From The Planet Bob.

Why is it generally emo songs that have long names? Where did this trend come from? Brand New, Panic!, etc...the song names are ridiculously long!
BTW: Not that I'm targeting this type of music as a typical emo-hater, I actually quite like some of these bands.

Haha, they are mostly punk-pop bands... I must agree, it's a weird trend, but I don't really have anything against it. There are worse things in life :)

And a confession: I really like Panic! at the disco ! MCR are OK and arctic monkeys are very good and fresh - check them out, not emo at all.

Panic at the disco don't only have really long song titles but the lyrics for their songs are really weird. Even when I look them up on the internet I only understand about half of it... I don't understand how they come up with this stuff... Same for FOB
