How Many Books Do You Read in a Year (approx.)?

Are you secretly a vampire?

ds

No ds, she isn't. That's my job, and where did you live again? :D

I read this year:

35 manga
4 non-manga graphic novels
59 fiction over 500 pages (not including The Historian and The Book of Shadows, which I'm reading right now.)
76 fiction under 500 pages
14 nonfiction
Hundreds of forum posts!
=135 books or 2.6 books per week.

Wow, it feels like so much less!

I'm jealous of you people who get books as presents. My mom has no idea what to get me so i have to put out a list of books i want, meaning I don't get any books that i didn't ask for as 'recommendations'. I end up with clothes and gift cards.
I suppose I'm lucky. My mother and I always have discussions about books and she always knows what to get me. Sometimes she'll pick out books that I didn't ask for that I wind up liking, but I'll admit that it doesn't happen very often.

Probably somewhere between 30 and 50, depending on what I am doing. Now that I am starting my cataloguing job, I don't think I will have as much time to read. But then there are the trips on the bus to and from work and the Greyhound trips between Kamloops and Abbotsford that I will get a lot of my reading tonight.

On a completely unrelated topic, CNN is saying that Hussein was executed almost 40 mintues ago.

wow I feel like a total slacker!
I avg about 25 a year. I would LOVE for it to be more, i'll have to work on that this year!

Normally I read 1 or 2 mystery/thriller types a week, but as I started a blog in 2006 I thought I might list my reading, out of curiosity. In the end I had a total of 65, a mixture of fiction and non-fiction.

I feel bad now. I think I read around 26 in 2006, not counting the numerous nonfictions I was assigned for scholastic purposes or graphic novels.

I managed 55 this year, which was a surprise when I started tallying them up. I didn't think I would have that many-it seemed like for many months I was single-mindedly focused on my art. And then I moved, which meant packing up all my books.

I guess that on average, I have always read between 75 and 100, of all genre's and levels of 'difficulty'. Not counting poems, newspapers, magazine articles, online texts, letters, and the backs of shampoo bottles.

I managed to read 62 in 2006, which was alright considering that it was my last year of high school. I'm aiming for 100 this year - I won't let something trivial like Uni get in the way of reading :D

so can we include things that get posted through our letterboxes, cereal boxes or leaflets and such? :p

Ive read 35 books this year! Im actually surprised as I have had a few slow months and didnt think I had read more than 25.

I usually only read 20 or so books in a year. I've decided to keep tally of the books and movies i read/watch this year. I expect the movies to be 200+ since I work at a movie theater now and get to watch movies for free. Hopefully I'll have time to get my book # up too.

I have actually no idea how many books I usually read in a year.
But to make a guess, I think I read around 30 books last year.
I wanted to read a lot more but didn't have enough time. This year I will probably have even less time but anyway I will try to read more.

Between working 40 hrs a week and taking care of my 2 year old, I'll have to say that I read maybe 2 a month, so 24 books a year.

We listen to books at work, does that count?

My guess would be that as long as you hear the whole un-abridged book, then it counts. :)

My family is big on reading books aloud. We'll take turns, one person reads while everyone else crochets or cooks, or plays video games-whatever. If audio books wouldn't count, then all those books wouldn't either, and I would hate to think that, since we read out Ivanhoe, and that's not easy!

About 25-30, not including school required reading, in 2005 & 2006 (each - so about 50-60 books these past two years). It will probably be even less this year these next two semesters will be very busy.

Between 50 and 150 most years. I don't really keep a count. I did last year and ended up reading about 60. Lately I've averaged a book a week. Sometimes I average two a week. Sometimes I only finish two in a month. Depends on how hectic my life is and how much I feel like doing anything.

At the half-way point in the year, I've read 35 books. I'm on pace to break 70 unless I get a life.
